Hey Kensington!
Are you feeling stressed?
Are you noticing a negative change in your performance?
Shelly (Registered Social Worker) & Steph (Osteopathic Manual Practitioner & Coach) are going to be in studio on March 3rd to help you identify and over come those mental & physical barriers.

Shelly & Steph will cover signs to look out for, symptoms you may experience (mentally & physically) and how to implement positive change.

This workshop is not just pertaining to you & exercise, but also applicable to work and relationships. The mind & body are too interconnected to look at them in isolation, so come for your work out and stay for some self-care!
Let 2024 be the year where you take control of your overall health- not just the physical!
Sign up on mindbody.

⭐️MEET YOUR PRACTITIONER⭐️ PART 2
Hey, me again! This time with a little bit about what I do outside of the clinic!

⚡️I love to be active 💪 I have been a fitness instructor for 5+ years now, having worked at a few local boutique gyms in London. I first taught at Body By Lagree, and currently work at F45 (Masonville & Hyde Park).

⚡️I’m an early riser🌞 Most days my alarm is set for 5am…which has me going to bed embarrassingly early 👵

⚡️Based on the last two points, you’ll understand I prioritize my health with two key components: exercise & sleep. It is important to make time for movement and for rest, or else you will be forced to make more time for illness/ injury.

⭐️MEET YOUR PRACTITIONER⭐️ PART 1 It is about time I introduce myself!
Starting it off on a professional note, here is a little bit about my education & what brought me to osteopathy.

My name is Steph, and I am the sole Osteopathic Manual Practitioner at Berk Osteopathy.
⚡️I received my Masters in Practice of Osteopathic Manipulative Sciences from the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy.
⚡️Previous to this, I graduated from Miami University (in Ohio, not Florida🙃) with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology & a Minor in Nutrition.
⚡️I was born & raised in London, and a former St.Thomas Aquinas Flame🔥
*Class of Dreams* (If you know, you know).

I have always been interested in health & wellness, but wasn’t introduced to osteopathy until my mother received treatment from a practitioner in London. It was the only form of manual therapy that gave her relief. Once I researched more about osteopathy and visited the CAO, I liked and agreed with its principles and holistic methodology of treatment. Message me if you want to learn more about Osteopathic Manual Therapy & how it may benefit you!

Everything is connected!

OSTCAN Osteopathic Manual Practitioners (OMP) take a full-body approach to their treatment, which means they know the whole body must function together for optimal health. Even if an injury is concentrated in one area, it can still have a negative impact on the rest of your body leading to pain, stiffness and more. OMP's consider the entire body in the healing process, so don't be surprised if you visit your OMP for shoulder pain and they start examining your lower back!

ARE YOU STRESSED?💥

Having it been officially one year since our world has been turned upside down, I think it is safe to say that we have all undergone a lot of change. With change often comes stress. As humans, when we are stressed our bodies adjust and go into a sympathetic state (often known as “fight or flight” mode). This overloads our nervous system and with the constant stress or trauma that we have undergone, our body can store this energy in its tissues. We may find ourselves tense, unable to sleep, digest, or feel comfortable in daily activities. Personally, opening my business has created a lot of new stress in my life. (So yes, I too benefit from having regular osteopathic treatments). Our bodies are capable of handling the stress but only for so long. You must have the counteractive parasympathetic response to balance the stress and to let your body heal. Osteopathic manual therapy is appealing to the nervous system and helps create an equilibrium within the body.
Book in to help your body maintain a better balance- structurally & functionally.

“All channels to and from the heart must be cleared from all hinderance. No nerve can do it’s part unless it be well nourished. If not it will fail to execute its part for want of power- for by it all blood must move. “
- AT Still

As our blood is what supplies our body of nutrients, if it’s flow is obstructed it will compromise the function of the region that blood vessel supplies. Osteopathic treatments work to alleviate our bodies of restrictions so that all nerve flow, blood and lymph move freely.

“If you don’t make time for your wellness, you will be forced to make time for your illness”.

Mental & physical health are interrelated, just as the structure & function of your anatomy. Both are equally as important to maintaining a well functioning body. Message me or book in to see how osteopathic treatment can influence both!

The lungs play an important role in the excretion of waste. Mechanically they rely on the diaphragm and ribs to inflate. If there is a restriction of the soft tissue governing these movements, the lungs’ capacity is reduced. Proper alignment is crucial for the body to exchange waste products and promote adequate blood flow.
Message me or book in to see how osteopathic treatment can encourage quality respiration!

FAQ: How is payment processed?

Payment may be made via cash, credit, debit, or e-transfer. It is a cash for service transaction where you will be issued a receipt to submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. I do not process through direct billing. HST is included in all treatment prices.

FAQ: What do I wear to my appointment?

Comfortable clothing that is not restricting! I need to be able to move/feel your tissues and joints through your clothes, so anything that restricts your range of motion or that is too thick may interfere with treatment. Preferably no jeans, skirts, or dress shirts! Jewelry such as large necklaces, earrings, belts and watches should be removed before treatment begins.

WE MOVED! Berk Osteopathy relocated.
Now treating in both Wortley Village and Masonville.
These treatments are now eligible for insurance reimbursement!
