Here’s the truth: Women normalize iron deficiency.🤦🏻♀️ I hear the phrase, “Every female is iron deficient” way too much. Well…that’s not true (coming from someone with more than optimal ferritin levels). It isn’t something you should be living with. There are many risks of iron deficiency. And sometimes, just giving an iron prescription isn’t enough, there’s more to the picture. Get it treated girl!
There are two problems with this. First, the sample may not be a true representation of the population. Second, the population can contain a number of unhealthy individuals, which would affect the ranges. Also, the association of certain ranges with risks for disease is not considered when calculating “normal” ranges. There are also a wide range of dysfunctions that wouldn’t necessarily result in an abnormal blood test reading. Therefore, a normal blood test does NOT automatically mean you’re healthy or functioning optimally.

A common symptom does NOT mean it is necessarily normal. Just because you hear so many people going through the same symptoms as you does NOT mean it is normal. A symptom is your body’s way of telling you something is wrong. Here are a few examples of some symptoms I hear on a daily basis that should NOT be normalized:
🔹Having bowel movements every 3 days (eliminating toxins everyday is important)
🔹Menstrual cramps & heavy periods that require you to miss work or school
🔹Menstrual cramps that need pain medication, especially over many days
🔹Menopausal symptoms (Yes, it’s a transition that every woman goes through, but that does NOT mean you just live with the symptoms. Those symptoms are simply abnormal “responses” to normal hormonal changes). Look into the “why”!
✨Only two weeks left to take advantage of your extended health benefits before the end of the year! Some ways to take advantage:
1. 🩺 General wellness visit: Review routine blood work to determine whether markers of health & nutritional status are optimal. In addition to blood work, a physical exam can point towards potential areas of focus.
2. 🎄Address stress & mood: Although the holidays can be an exciting time for some, it can be the saddest time of year for others with changes in their mood.
3. 💊 Supplements: Learn if you’re taking the right supplements in the right form & amount.

✨Why naturopathic medicine?✨
Growing up, I was exposed to various chronic health concerns in my family, including skin conditions, mental health, fatigue, & digestive complaints. Through it all, I realized there is no magic pill or overnight fix. And if there is, you may find that your symptoms relapse after a certain period!
The path to treating chronic health concerns is not linear, it is multifactorial. It isn’t about pills or supplements that everyone takes. It also isn’t about diets. Instead, it’s often a combination of dietary changes, lifestyle changes, & supplementation (where needed) tailored to YOU. Two patients coming in with the same concerns do not necessarily leave with the same treatment. This is about your health & your goals. This is also why not every ND treats the same way as another. And sometimes, it even requires having both a MD and ND on your team (because integrative health is😍).
In addition to the diversity in this field, I love that I have enough time with my patients to listen to their full story. I am passionate about patient education during appointments.
I want to hear your story. Let’s work through it together & get you feeling optimal!
