Domestic Abuse affects 1 in 2 women according to the calgary womens shelter. Domestic abuse can be physical, emotional, cultural, spiritual, financial, sexual, and isolation. If you need help try calgary womens shelter: https://www.calgarywomensshelter.com/ and click the safe exit so your visit can not be tracked. They also help those who choose to stay in the relationship.

https://www.rowanhouse.ca/ for women south of calgary, such as highriver, okotoks and Nanton. They help those who leave the relationship and provide 30 day shelter, as well as outreach.

The Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter is focused on ending family violence and abuse in the lives of women, children, youth and men. We are more than a shelter, providing innovative safety, healing and prevention programs. We stand against family violence.

I am no longer helping with the covid efforts as a LPN. I am just waiting for my aircast to come off August 25th so that I can help you and your new families!

I haven't been very active lately. Right now I'm helping as a nurse with covid. This is only temporary, and I hope to be right back doing doula work soon. Thank you for understanding.

Breastmilk is made by the morhers blood and not directly from what she eats.

Mothers in famine conditions still produce breastmilk that is optimal to their babies. This is because breastmilk evolves in sync with the babies feeding needs. -la leache league

What's the difference between a certified doula and a certifying doula anyway?

So you have decided that you want a postpartum doula. That's great! But you're on a budget. A certified doula is $30 to $40/hour but a certifying doula is a $20 to $30/hour investment. But what's the difference?

A certified doula is someone who has met their training bodies requirements to be a certified doula. While a certifying doula is working on those requirements. HOWEVER both a certifying doula and certified doula have done the same in class training, and readings, and mandatory webinar.

The difference is that a certified doula has more experience. A certified doula has had the mandatory 2 (3 for birth I believe) families that they have helped who have filled out a review on them. A certifying doula is working on getting families to review them.

What it boils down to is this: a certified doula has more experience, not always more training (of course if they have been a certified doula for many years they take extra courses to stay current). But when you hire a certifying doula they may ask you to fill out a review of them to become certified. So if you decide on a doula it's worth considering a certifying doula. If you want a knowledgable doula go to their website and see what training they have taken, what past field they had education in. This is true for certified and certifying doulas. Having a certifying doula doesn't mean you're settling for second best, what's more important is deciding which doula is right for you.
