Holidays can be an interweaving of sorrow and joy, or grief and gratitude. As I ground myself in my annual Ukrainian Easter traditions, I reflect on the time that has passed, observe the chapters of my life, and remember the past versions of me. I can also celebrate the visible evidence of my growth and evolution. Using the metaphor of the natural cycles of the seasons — spring, summer, fall, and winter — I explore how life’s changes mirror the rhythms of nature. From planting seeds in spring to the introspection of winter, I reflect on the emotional journey of loss, growth, and rebirth. Though growth can be painful, it’s also a sign of transformation. Join me in embracing the ebb and flow of change, and remember that every shift is part of our personal evolution. :
I grew up with Easter Ukrainian cultural traditions that are important to me to this day. In Ukrainian culture we prepare Easter baskets and take them to church to be blessed.
