If you've been running on empty for so long that 'tired' just feels like your personality now — this is your sign that what you're experiencing isn't just tiredness. It's burnout. And it's not something you can sleep off or push through. You deserve actual support. 🤍 Save this if it resonates, and share it with a parent who needs to hear it.

Asking for help is not a weakness (PERIOD). I'll say it louder for the parents in the back. 🤍 We live in a culture that glorifies doing it all...the packed lunches, the clean house, the patient voice, the held-together facade.

Somewhere along the way, needing support became something to be ashamed of. It's not. Reaching out is one of the most courageous things you will ever do. For yourself. And for your kids

ITS THAT DANG SOCIAL MEDIA! - If I had a dollar for every time I heard that in session. If we just focus on the role of social media we are seriously missing the mark to help improve our teen's mental health.

TBH the world is a dumpsterfire right now. Of course our societal context is also impacting our teens. Yes, social media is a way teens gain access to information (of varying degrees of credibility) about the world around them. We call it doomscrolling for a reason.

Some parents reaction is to just limit social media which while might be helpful (or recommended by your mental health professional) focusing on social media alone will miss other vital teaching opportunities. You can't support teen mental health without conversation. These conversations can be tricky to navigate but help is available!

As a Mom to boys I feel this. It's vital to check in with our kids regardless of gender. One of the best thing you can do for boys is validate their emotional experience and role model emotional expression to increase emotional vocabulary. It's healthy for boys to experience and express a variety of emotions.

The story you tell about yourself shapes the life you live. Therapy is often the process of finding a truer, kinder story.

Just a little bit dramatic💫 It can be tough to be patient and have empathy for our teens when we feel that their emotions do not appropriate match the situation at hand. Reconsidering this through the lens of brain development might help stretch your patience and empathy further and support your teen in emotional recognition and coping.

Its really really important to open up this conversation. It might feel counterintuitive but we have A LOT of research that shows us asking "the question" protects kids. Su***de is often not about wanting to die, its about wanting the pain to stop. By opening up the conversation you can support your teen in figuring out how to deal with the pain they are experiencing.

This person is clearly not following instructions. Ironically, this person now helps parents and teens think of out of the box suggestions and rolling with defiance.
