Twenty years ago, Amarveer’s grandparents were part of the generous Sikh community who helped make the Guru Nanak Dev Ji Vision Clinic at the Alberta Children’s Hospital possible. They never imagined their own grandson would one day need it. Amarveer was diagnosed with a cataract as a baby and urgently received life-changing care at the very same clinic his family helped fundraise for years earlier.

Today, we’re grateful that this same community came together through the RED FM Calgary Gurpurab Radiothon in support of advanced equipment at the vision clinic to help more kids like Amarveer see all the beauty the world has to offer.

We’re thrilled to share that the REDFM Calgary Radiothon raised an incredible $213,250 and counting!

The Red FM Gurpurab Radiothon is on NOW! Tune in to learn about the world-class care that kids across western Canada receive from the Guru Nanak Dev Ji Vision Clinic here at the Alberta Children’s Hospital.

Funds raised through the Radiothon will support a state-of-the-art RetCam for the vision clinic. This advanced retinal imaging system captures high-resolution, wide-angle images of the eye that are essential for diagnosing and monitoring premature babies at risk of blindness, children with rare genetic or metabolic disorders, and those with eye injuries or tumours. A new RetCam will give experts the clarity, speed and precision they need to detect problems earlier, intervene sooner and protect the precious gift of sight for hundreds of young patients each year.

In an ever-changing world, one thing remains a constant: The Alberta Children’s Hospital is a bright spot for families, with state-of-the-art equipment, innovative research and family centred care programs. It’s your generosity that makes all of it possible.

The Red FM Gurpurab Radiothon is BACK and we are deeply grateful this year it’s supporting the Guru Nanak Dev Ji Vision Clinic at the Alberta Children’s Hospital!

About 20 years ago, the Sikh community came together to raise more than $1 million to fund a vision new clinic, purpose-built with larger and improved spaces, a research lab and the latest technology. Today, it is one of the largest pediatric vision clinics in western Canada.

Community support for the Red FM Gurpurab Radiothon will fund a state-of-the-art RetCam for the vision clinic – a high-definition camera used to help diagnose, treat and manage a variety of pediatric eye diseases and conditions.
