We got a call from our Bowness location alarm company around 3 am last night. At first, you assume it’s a prank. Then you realize it’s actually the alarm company, and the next thought is that it must be a false alarm. That has happened before, like when a dead battery set it off.
But this time it wasn’t.
The police were dispatched, and we quickly got dressed and headed to the studio. When we arrived, we discovered someone had gained access by smashing the front door window with a rock. They wore a mask and gloves, so we were told it is highly unlikely they will be caught. They probably knew that too.
We feel a bit rattled by it all, of course. But more than anything, I feel a deep sadness in my heart for whoever it was, that they felt desperate enough to believe breaking into a yoga studio might somehow make their life better.
We truly strive to help make people’s lives better, but that does not leave much cash in the till. What it leaves isn’t something you can’t take.
Everything is cleaned up and secure now, and the studio is open as usual.
My prayers are with the person who did this, that somehow they find a community that can support them.
I wanted to share this in case you are wondering why we now have a wooden door. And also to say, all are welcome to walk through it, just as you are, and let go of whatever you are carrying.
In gratitude,
Daemond
