Join us in welcoming our first in-house Psychotherapist/ Certified Canadian Counsellor Ana Tiruta to the RAW team! 👏🔥

🎓Ana started out in the field of law, having completed a Bachelor of Laws in International and European Law, before pivoting to psychology. She holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, and is currently in the process of registering as a Provisional Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists. She is also Level 2 Certified in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and has completed professional training in the holistic treatment of mental health conditions, looking at factors such as diet, sleep, exercise, and stress.

🧠Our bodies and brains are in constant communion; thus, physical health and mental health are synonymous. Ana is passionate about helping her clients explore the root causes for their mental health concerns and create long-term and sustainable positive change.

In doing this, she takes an integrative approach to mental health, with a particular focus on the impact of physical health and gut health on mental health.

🌱She infuses gut-health supporting protocols into therapy, looking at ways to optimize diet, exercise, sleep, and stress to best support our bodies and brains by reducing systemic inflammation and chronic stress. Clients will learn to better understand the inner workings of their body and brain, in the aim of becoming more in-tune with their physiology and themself as a whole.

✨Ana’s goal is to help guide her clients on a journey towards understanding themselves and their patterns better, creating more functional and adaptive habits for a richer, more meaningful life.
👀 💫keep an eye out for interactive mental health workshops that Ana will be hosting and she is also available for 1-1 appointment requests (48hour notice required) at RAW II - #140 1900-11st SE at the Ramsay Design Center.

💐💫💗 This weekend we hosted a divine custom mini retreat for an intimate birthday 🎂 celebration with a guided group meditation 🧘 combined with individually targeted acupuncture ☯️ treatments, beautiful charcuterie + beverages + donuts 🍩 for snacks while everyone hung out while taking turns getting a 1-1 tarot 🔮 reading before coming back together for a sound 🛀🎶.

At RAW, we offer short and intimate group retreats for 2-6 individuals as a fun activity perfect for team building, soirées, date nights, celebrations, or any form of relational bonding. ✨

A few “mysterious” foundational elements of Traditional Chinese Medicine ☯️. May also answer the question of why TCM school is 4 years long.

👂Auricular Therapy - Ear seeding/ Ear Seed therapy
✨ By stimulating specific points with acupuncture or ear seeds,  neuro chemicals are triggered to shift your nervous system.

👅 Observing your tongue is a tool that your TCM practitioner uses to assess your health.
A few examples:
    •    Pale = Qi deficiency
    •    Red tip = stress or heat in the heart
    •    Thick coating = dampness

🪷 Emotions and the physical body interconnected:
    •    Tension + anger → Liver
    •    anxiety + overthinking → Spleen
    •    grief + sadness → lungs
    •    Fear → Kidneys
✨ The relationship betwen your emotions and your physical health is addressed as an explicable whole by your TCM practitioner.

🔥💧🌱🤘 Five Elements:
The interaction of these elements create the unique pattern that is you, and is often the starting point of any treatment plan created with your TCM practitioner to help achieve your goals.

🧨 Moxibustion:
Burning mugwort boosts Yang energy, moves blood, warms your meridians, reduces inflammation, and is also successfully used to turn breech babies. 🐣

🌊 Free flow of qi:
✨ Blocked Qi = pain. Free flow = ease.

🫴 A few common qualities if the Pulse as another health diary:
    •    Wiry Pulse (Xian Mai): It is often associated with pain, stress, or imbalances in the liver.
    •    Floating Pulse (Fu Mai): It can indicate the potential onset of a cold.
    •    Weak Pulse (Ruo Mai): Can suggest a Qi or Blood deficiency, with fatigue, weakness, or insomnia.
    •    Thready Pulse (Xi Mai): May suggest a Blood or Fluid deficiency.
    •    Slippery Pulse (Hua Mai): It can indicate the presence of phlegm, dampness, or is typical during pregnancy.
    •    Deep Pulse (Chen Mai): May indicate an imbalance that is more serious, or potentially a chronic condition

👉 Book with or reach out to one of our TCM practitioners to see how these tools can support you in your healing journey. Link in bio. 🌸

☯️In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the hottest days of summer—San Fu Days—are considered the most potent time to build resilience and prevent winter conditions.

During summer, Yang energy is at its peak. The body is more open and receptive to treatment, making it the ideal season to address chronic imbalances and strengthen the immune system before the cold months arrive.

San Fu therapy include:

🌿 Herbal patches (or moxa) applied to specific acupuncture points to stimulate the Lung and Spleen meridians—helping boost immunity, clear lingering Cold/Dampness, and strengthen the body’s defenses.

🪡 Acupuncture, which further activates these meridians, enhances the effects of the herbs, and balances the body’s Yin and Yang. Acupuncture also improves circulation and energy flow, helping the body absorb the seasonal benefits more deeply.

By aligning with the power of the summer season, San Fu therapy helps:
✔️ Reduce colds, coughs, and asthma in winter
✔️ Strengthen lung and digestive health
✔️ Boost overall energy and immunity
✔️ Prevent flare-ups of chronic conditions

San Fu is a centuries-old Traditional Chinese Medicine ritual that harnesses the abundance of summer to prepare for the colder months ahead. ❄️💪
