Meet Albert! This handsome gentleman was in yesterday for his neuter procedure and he did fantastic. He is a Xoloitzcuintli also known as the Mexican Hairless, they come in hairless and coated varieties. Today is international left handers day! It is a day to celebrate the left handed people out there, we have two lefties here at the clinic and would like to say happy left handers day! Did you know many animals show preference between there left and right paws for certain tasks as well and can be considered left pawed vs right pawed.

August is itchy pet awareness month. Did you know that itchy skin is one of the most common Veterinary complaints. Allergies are the most common factor in making your furry friends itchy, pets can have both food and environmental allergies just like humans. Skin allergies can be treated with medications, medicated baths and special diets. If you re finding that your pet is overly itchy book them in for an appointment with a Doctor to discuss what is best for them.

So please take the time today to spoil the felines in your life, if you don’t have a cat of your own maybe take the time to donate or volunteer your time at a shelter. Did you know August aka DOGust is known as universal birthday for shelter dogs. When you adopt a dog from a shelter a lot can be unknown about their history including their date of birth. So some shelters came up with a solution to this and decided to call August DOGust and make it a universal birthdate for shelter dogs. Did the shelter you got your rescue dog from use August as their date of birth?

Unfortunately many dogs are in shelters and overlooked just for the simple fact that they are not a purebred dog, with celebrating on July 31st this can bring some attention to mixed breeds and how wonderful they are!
