About Course
Moving into the gray zone with multiple missing teeth shifts the focus to the interpretation of the probabilities that are shaped by our experience in treating patients over time. Key abutment teeth present with a certain value when working through restorative treatment options. Fixed bridge & removable partial denture design provide options to help our patients maintain natural teeth when the desire is there to work with what remains.
Dental implants can provide options in a fully edentulous state (as was the original intention) as well as a partially edentulous state. When the goal is to prolong the use of the remaining teeth, cemented bridges & partial dentures can be considered for a restorative solution in the context of a phased approach to treatment in helping the patient either ward off or potentially move toward an edentulous state with grace.
Our patients crave certainty in scenarios where decisions are made based on probability. While making decisions, choices could very well be made based on a predetermined value for a specific tooth or a segment of teeth likely connected with an emotional context. The goal is to identify what is possible to solve a dental problem and the commitment required of the proposed treatment which could include a phased approach.
Dr. Benting maintains a private practice in Phoenix, Arizona and currently serves as the President-Elect of the American College of Prosthodontists. He participated as Adjunct Faculty in the prosthodontic clinic at Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health and at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry.
