McKenna, the Executive Director at Atria Park of Ann Arbor, shared her passion for Roller Derby, and residents loved every minute of it! 🛼

After hearing her stories, residents were thrilled to watch her team compete. It was such a joy to see McKenna shine in a whole new way.

"It was more exciting to share this experience with my Atria family than it was to share it with my biological family," Mckenna laughs. "My kids see it all the time – Roller Derby is part of my life. My Atria family has never experienced Roller Derby or gotten to meet my Roller Derby persona 'Hell Kat'. I was over the moon to share it with them!"

We’re incredibly proud to support team members who share their talents and hobbies with our community. Way to go, McKenna!

Who says you need a backyard to grow a garden? Residents like Sue and Irene at Atria Park of Vintage Hills are proving that new hobbies can bloom anywhere.

After receiving plants during our Earth Day event, they’ve been nurturing their indoor gardens into the winter with care and excitement. Sue even shared that she’d never been able to grow a plant before — and now hers are thriving and sprouting new “plant babies.” 🌱

Opa!

Home of the Acropolis, the Olympic Games and the birthplace of Western civilization, the country of Greece has made countless contributions to the world we live in. But one of the best contributions is the food.

Our Taste Greece event featured classic spanakopita, chicken souvlaki, Greek salad, tzatziki and pita. And for dessert? Why, baklava of course!

We can't wait to see – and taste – the cuisine from our destination next month!

"Betty got a call to head to Atria Park of Pacific Palisades and support the community in their evacuation from the Palisades fire that had taken a quick turn in their direction," says Remon Pagels, Executive Director of Atria Hillcrest. "The drive was long and hazardous with many roads being closed along her route and winds reaching hurricane-force strength. Betty stayed the course, donned an N95 mask to protect against the hazardous air quality, and calmly helped residents on to the bus, many of whom required mobility assistance. Lives were saved because of Betty."

For these reasons and many more, Betty was recognized as a 2025 Southern California Excellence in Service Award winner from the California Assisted Living Association (CALA).

"Betty has been a beloved member of Atria Hillcrest for years, and we are so proud of her bravery. She is a friend to our residents, and they have become a family to her. This isn’t just a job to Betty. Being with our residents means a lot to her."

Congratulations to Betty on the recognition and for being a key part of the community every day! 🎉

This Halloween season, Arbor Lake Retirement was buzzing with spooky fun and laughter during our Monster Mash Bingo event! Residents came dressed in their favorite costumes, from friendly witches to playful ghosts, and filled the room with festive spirit. The bingo cards were flying, the prizes were frightfully delightful, and the laughter was contagious!

It was a wonderful afternoon of games, good company, and community connection — reminding us that at Arbor Lake, every celebration is a chance to make memories and share joy. A huge thank you to everyone who joined in the fun and helped make our Monster Mash Bingo a spooktacular success! 🎃🕸️🦇
