My approach to heart-centered counselling is to help you re-learn how to listen to the deeper wisdom of your body, guide you through healing life's trauma and heartache and, move towards greater personal truth and authenticity. I utilize a mindful and intuitive approach to counselling, along with evidence-based knowledge, to assist you in accessing your inner wisdom and living a more full, authent
ic life. I specialize in the treatment of trauma, eating disorders and body image concerns, bereavement, depression, anxiety, health concerns, life transitions, and stress management. I have done numerous national and international presentations on health and wellness, especially in the area of eating disorder and obesity prevention, and creating healthy environments for children. in theatre, a B.Ed., an M.Ed. in Counselling Psychology from the University of Lethbridge, and am currently completing a Ph.D. in Counselling Psychology at the University of Calgary. My focus is primarily child psychology and eating disorder prevention and treatment. Prior to becoming a psychologist, I enjoyed being an elementary school teacher, and initially sought further training to become a school counsellor. I also have completed training in Hakomi, EMDR (Level II), Usui Reiki (Level II), and am completing Iyengar Yoga teacher training, which greatly informs my approach to counselling. Why do I do what I do? I truly value personal health and well-being, healthy relationships, and seek to help people create healthy environments. However, I also recognize (and have experienced) that life takes twists and turns that take us off our authentic path and cause deep hurts, which I truly believe can be healed and help us learn and grow along our life's journey. Our past does not define us, but can be used to open our hearts and minds to create a healthier present and future. My practice is inclusive of differences. GLBTQ and Poly friendly. I look forward to working with you!
