(281)

Through a variety of yoga styles designed for all levels, we create and hold a space that invites people to connect with one another and an opportunity to be their authentic self. Our instructors encourage personal exploration, non-attachment to outcome and present moment awareness. We offer the Great Yoga Wall, Ashtanga Yoga, Flow Yoga, Yin/Yang Yoga, Hot Yoga, Yoga Barre, Rollax, Warm Hips and Hamstrings, Warm Yin/Restorative, Yin Restorative with Nidra. All of which use a combination of movement and posture synchronized with the breath. Strength, flexibility, stamina and complete relaxation are developed along with balance and concentration. We believe in fostering the practice not only within the physical body but the heart, soul and mind as well. There are many free 2 hours spots available on side streets and we have $2 parking inside the indoor car lot located on 18th avenue on the side of the studio.

When do you actually like yourself?
Some of the time?
Never?
Only when things go perfectly in your already predetermined idea of how youโ€™re meant to look or sound?

Or can you say always?

Because honestly, how often are we putting ourselves in the outhouse without even noticing? The tone we never use on a friend becomes the tone we use on ourselves. And then we wonder why we feel so small, so insignificant.

Think of what happens when someone demeans you or mocks you. Notice how that lands in the body, how it chips away, how it changes how you see yourself. So why do we think doing that to ourselves is any different?

Liking yourself always doesnโ€™t mean loving every choice or pretending that we donโ€™t, at times, mess up. In fact, life is a colorful, messy art project.

Showing up for yourself and not abandoning yourself in the moment you need support the most is part of what it takes to like yourself.

Maybe today is a good day to practice answering always, even if it feels awkward, even if it feels new.

Remember, you can still wish you handled something differently and still stand with yourself. You can still say I didnโ€™t love that and still stay kind.

Maybe thatโ€™s the whole practice.
Standing with yourself and remembering youโ€™re someone worth liking.

Throwback to July ๐Ÿ”ฅ
It wasnโ€™t just hot outside, it was hot in the studio too.

Meno, Jackie, and Angie earned that glow after Angieโ€™s fiery hot Santosha flow.

Three amazing teachers/practitioners sharing sweat, smiles, and the post-practice bliss we all know and love.

Grateful for these incredible humans and the energy they bring to our Santosha community.

Grounded in truth or stretching into story?

The mind can quickly build a narrative that is completely false.

There is a tendency for the mind to fill in the gaps, project meaning, and turn moments into stories, even when they are not based in truth.

๐’๐ฎ๐ญ๐ซ๐š ๐’๐š๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐๐š๐ฒ / ๐’๐ฎ๐ญ๐ซ๐š ๐Ÿ.๐Ÿ•:

Right knowledge arises through three means: direct perception, inference, and reliable testimony.

๐ƒ๐ข๐ซ๐ž๐œ๐ญ ๐ฉ๐ž๐ซ๐œ๐ž๐ฉ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง is what we witness or experience firsthand.

You feel snow land on your skin. No guesswork, just lived experience.

๐ˆ๐ง๐Ÿ๐ž๐ซ๐ž๐ง๐œ๐ž is the conclusion we draw through logic or observation.

You see wet grass and pavement with grey skies and conclude it must have rained or snowed.

๐‘๐ž๐ฅ๐ข๐š๐›๐ฅ๐ž ๐ญ๐ž๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐ฆ๐จ๐ง๐ฒ comes from trusted sources such as wise teachers, sacred texts, or guidance passed down with integrity.

You may not know every yoga posture by heart, but when a skilled teacher explains it with clarity and lineage, you trust the teaching.

What if you paused to ask, is it true?
And noticed the moments when the mind clouds perception, when stories take over before truth has even had a chance to land.

and notice what aspect of right knowledge might become your best compass to practice.

Kirstinโ€™s heart share is our newest blog โ™ฅ๏ธ
This is how it begins:

โ€˜Friends. You are welcome here and you belong here.

If you donโ€™t always feel like you belong, yet a tiny part of you remains open to the idea that it may not be the whole truth โ€“ these words might change your life.

And although this is hardly the whole story for me, itโ€™s as good a place as any to begin.

I remember distinctly the moment these words landed, unexpectedly, channeled by a wise and beautiful stranger whoโ€™d Iโ€™d later call one of my great teachers as I settled into her class. And I broke. I couldnโ€™t have anticipated the degree to which I would be impacted by such simple language. But the potency of her words penetrated me, and my cracks began to show. The foundation I had built and lived upon had started to shift and as it did, I too, began to come apart.

A series of less than gentle awakenings delivered me to the truth of my reality: that the world in which I felt alone, unwelcome and an outsider to โ€“ had been in large part my own creation.โ€™ ~

If you havenโ€™t met Kirstin or practiced with her yet โ€“ she is an exceptional human. Heart-led. Powerful. Courageous. Devoted to the practice and devoted to life. She listens, really listens. She keeps learning, keeps exploring, and she shares from a place that is honest and brave. She is willing to swim into the depths.

We are incredibly lucky that she joined Yoga Santosha after completing her teacher training with us in 2023, and is now one of our beloved teachers.

Thank you, Kirstin, for sharing your heart, you and for reminding us that we all belong.

An hour returned today. Daylight savings happened and time stretched for a moment.

A friend asked, what if we did that on purpose? What if every week we set aside an hour that was not already spoken for before it began.

Not an hour to catch up or get ahead. An hour with room to breathe. To feel supported enough to soften, to say yes and open wide.

What would that hour hold? What would you choose if time was not already full?

Maybe the real gift is not the extra hour at all. Maybe the gift is the reminder that we can choose to make one.

Ardha Matsyendrasana | Seated Twist

Fall Equinox marks a shift toward balance and transition. Twists mirror that movement by helping us clear space, let go of what we no longer need, and make room for what is ahead.

Ardha Matsyendrasana is named after the sage Matsyendra, said to be the first to receive the teachings of yoga. The pose represents transformation and insight.

In this twist, one leg crosses over the other, grounding the base and spiraling the spine upward. Some practitioners keep the bottom leg extended, while others bend it to change their relationship to the rotation. Both versions are true to the pose.

Focus on length before turning. Root evenly through the sit bones, lift through the heart, and let the breath guide the movement.

As you move into the pose, notice what feels steady, what feels spacious, and where balance begins.

Itโ€™s been a few years since this photo op occurred, and the energy is timeless ๐Ÿ’•โœจ

Natasha and Candace share so much light, wisdom, and laughter both on and off the mat.

In one of our earlier throwbacks, Natasha went unguessed in the photo lineup, so sheโ€™s getting her moment today alongside Candace, owner of Yoga Santosha.

Natasha left for a while and is now back teaching her nourishing and grounding classes.

Big smiles. Big hearts. Beautiful souls.
Weโ€™re so grateful for the love and energy these two bring to our community.
