Today, on International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, we acknowledge that racism is not only a part of history but remains an ongoing reality that continues to impact individuals, families, and communities.
At AAM, we are committed to advancing equitable, respectful, and culturally safe care for all. We recognize the importance of listening, learning, and taking meaningful action to address systemic barriers within healthcare and beyond.
This day is a reminder that the work continues. Together, we must challenge discrimination in all its forms and help create spaces where everyone feels seen, valued, and supported.

March is Endometriosis Awareness Month. Endometriosis affects 1 in 10 people of reproductive age, yet many experience years of delayed diagnosis and dismissal of their symptoms.
Midwifery care is grounded in education, informed choice, and deep listening. When clients are empowered with knowledge about their bodies and supported through evidence-based, compassionate care, outcomes improve and trust grows.
Let’s continue advocating for reproductive health education, earlier recognition of symptoms, and systems that centre the voices of those seeking care.

Midwives are experts in healthy pregnancy and birth.
Midwives provide government-funded primary care to pregnant people and their newborns. Under the midwifery scope of practice, your midwife provides care to support the health and safety of you and your baby from early pregnancy, through labour and birth, until six weeks postpartum.
As soon as you know you are pregnant, you can contact a midwifery practice through our wait pool as the first point of entry into maternity health care. A referral from a physician is not required.
