In spring 2008, I attended Sunrise as an Outpatient. It was my third time in treatment, but the first two were necessary stepping stones to reach that point. That time was necessary for my story to unfold the way it did. I began to learn about myself and to understand addiction on a deeper level.
Having a strong connection to community and culture played a major role in helping me eventually reclaim my identity in recovery. Gaining basic life skills at Sunrise, through an Indigenous-focused lens was crucial to building my confidence. The 12-step program developed the foundation for a spiritual way of life, which is now my solid ground.
In January 2012, I truly committed to staying clean and sober. A slip in July 2013 tested that choice but ultimately strengthened my decision to remain in recovery. This journey has allowed me to live in my purpose for more than a decade now. My business is dedicated to encouraging growth in others by sharing the same teachings and knowledge that gave me a life I never knew I could have. I wish this healing and transformation for everyone.
