Robin Joseph Gozzola
February 11, 1960 - November 27, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robin Joseph Gozzola, who left us peacefully on November 27, 2025.

Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on February 11, 1960, Robin made his home in Calgary, Alberta, a place he filled with laughter, and a deep love for family. Robin lived a life defined by curiosity, compassion, adventure, and an unwavering commitment to others.

Robin lived a life full of passion and purpose. A proud ginger with a sharp mind and a quick wit, he was known for being clear-headed in stressful situations and a calm, steady presence to everyone around him. His remarkable powers of observation, thoughtful nature, and sense of humor made him unforgettable company.

Above all else, Robin's greatest joy was his family. He leaves behind his life partner Rhona, children Kyle, Iain, and Allan; his grandchildren Kayla, Nick, Taylor, Alivia, and Benny who were a light in his life. He was affectionately known as "Sweetie Pie".

He will also be deeply missed by his siblings Everet (Donna), Tami (Dean), and Loni. Robin had many nieces and nephews—Tamarra Tyler & Jordyn, Dallas, Jenifer—and great-nieces and nephews Myah, Ruby, Rayah, Charlotte, Serena, and Lorenzo, Chrissy, Raine, Lily, Emaleigh, Lena (Jared), Lance (Karen). Adria (Anthony) Jennalee (Gabe), Walter, Dean, Hans, Elsa, Inga, Bernard, Allyssandra, Anastasia, Alesaundra, Annarosa, Ari, Acheron, Dawne, Isaac, Esther, Sammy, Louise, Brie.

He was predeceased by his parents Don & Ruth, brother Daryl, first wife Brenda, niece Mandy, nephew Chad, and father-in-law Ray.

Robin had many interests that brought him joy -traveling, golfing, riding his motorcycle, the newest technology, politics, and watching "the talking heads." He loved good food whether dining out or cooking at home.

His most recent passion was the Wine Shop. He loved the people and making the wine and all the fun visitors

Robin rarely missed an episode of Star Trek or anything from the 60s. Music was a constant companion, especially the sounds of the Doobie Brothers and Supertramp. His favorite movie was FM, a reflection of his lifelong appreciation for music and story.

Robin loved to travel—especially with his life partner Rhona, with whom he shared countless adventures. Together they explored the world on motorcycles through Mexico, Belize, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Honduras, the Ride to the Sun, the Oregon and the Sunshine Coast, the Northern Cascades, and Route 66. They enjoyed more than 30 cruises, including Robin's most treasured bucket-list journey: crossing the Atlantic to Barcelona, continuing on a Mediterranean cruise visiting Rome, Cannes and other beautiful cities, finishing in London.

Robin had a special place in his heart for his dogs—Kramer, Winston, and Foxy—who were loyal companions throughout his life. He also loved his little red Miata, a symbol of the freedom and joy he found in everyday adventures.

Robin dedicated his career to helping others. After attending SAIT and becoming a Primary Care Paramedic, he served with ambulance services in Brooks, Olds, and Medicine Hat. He spent 25 years teaching EMRs and EMTs, first aid and safety programs, believing deeply that students deserved the very best tools and training—so much so that he kept two fully equipped ambulances in the classroom to ensure hands-on learning. Known for holding both himself and his students to high standards of excellence, Robin shaped generations of emergency responders.

In 1991, he founded Flatline Safety, continuing to teach first aid and safety with unwavering dedication. Over his 45+-year career, he taught for the Red Cross, St. John, and SAIT, working right up until November 10, 2025. His impact on the emergency services community is profound and lasting.

Robin's legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched—with his knowledge, his humor, his integrity, and his compassion. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
