The flu is a respiratory infection that can be caused by influenza viruses.
In North America, flu often strikes between October and April. Most who get the flu will recover within 7 to 10 days, but some are at risk of developing complications such as pneumonia.
The flu usually takes 1 to 4 days to incubate in humans. Those infected can become contagious before symptoms appear, often just the day after the virus enters the body. Adults can remain infectious for about 5 to 7 days, while young children may remain infectious for a few days longer.
Symptoms can include:
• Headaches
• Chills
• Coughing
• Fever
• Muscle aches
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
If you suspect that you may have the flu, stay home, get rest and plenty of fluids, and contact your physician or local pharmacist for more information.
To help protect your body and loved ones, you may want to consider getting the annual flu shot!

The best way to keep yourself, loved ones and pets safe is through preventative action and learning more about Lyme Disease. https://bit.ly/3cWI5Vf

Knowing the facts about naloxone may help to save a life. Here is what you need to know…
• Naloxone is a drug that acts rapidly to temporarily reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. It can restore breathing within two to five minutes of being administered.
• While naloxone is active in the body for only 20 to 90 minutes, the effects of most opioids can last longer. Because of this, you should always call for help.
• Naloxone is safe for all ages and only works if opioids are in your system.
• In Canada, naloxone is available in two types of take-home kits. One is a nasal spray and the other is an injectable. They are available at most pharmacies with no prescription required.
• Naloxone kits do expire, which is why they should be replaced after 18 to 24 months.
For more information about naloxone, speak with your local PharmaChoice pharmacist. Take-home naloxone kits are available without a prescription and can be picked up at most pharmacies or local health authorities. https://bit.ly/3hOegIG

If someone you know suffers from addiction, it could put them at an increased risk of an overdose. It's important that you educate yourself on the steps to take in case of an emergency due to an overdose. Today is International Overdose Day, take a few minutes to learn the steps to take in case of an emergency due to an overdose.
A person may have overdosed if:
- They can't be woken and/or don't respond to pain
- They are not breathing or are breathing very slowly
- Their lips, gums and fingertips are turning blue or purple
- They are making an unusual gurgling or loud snoring sound
- Their pupils are very small
If someone is overdosing, call 911 immediately. If you suspect that their overdose is due to opioids or other street drugs, a naloxone kit may be used until help arrives. http://bit.ly/2Y32bcl

Here are 5 rules that you can enforce while at school:
1. Avoid sharing food
2. Don't share utensils or straws
3. Wash hands before and after eating
4. Tell an adult if you don't feel well
5. Tell others about your allergy
