A huge ❤ THANK YOU ❤ to everyone, for the amazing response and filling up my schedule this week! (If I were to consistently book the number of appointments that I've had in the past few days - every week, there's no question my home practice would thrive!)

Goal for 2021? Let's make this happen!

Know that massage therapists in Alberta are advocating to stay open this time around - I will keep you posted as soon as I hear if there are any changes. There are petitions in circulation and we are encouraging those that feel massage is essential to their well-being to reach out to your MLA, mayor, Premier... to have us declared as a health service and allow us to remain operating.

❤ Thank you for your support! ❤ ~ Leanne

An open letter to the Government of Alberta:
As professional massage therapists with over 2200 hours of training: we are doing everything possible, as health care professionals, to keep our clients co-workers and communities safe. It has yet to be a concern in Alberta – there have been Zero transmissions in massage therapy since we re-opened in June.
However, we are again banned from performing our duty as healthcare providers and soft tissue rehabilitation therapists, prevented from helping our valued clients to treat those conditions best helped by massage therapy. Our co-workers in the same clinics, namely physiotherapists and chiropractors, can continue working. This disrupts the functionality of these therapy based clinics, because we work as a team, for the best interests of our clients.
Massage Therapists do not treat only the body, but also mind and soul: it has been proven that massage therapy improves the quality of life of individuals that suffer from anxiety, depression and myriad other conditions, and is often prescribed as effective therapy.
Massage helps significantly reduce stress, and as there are more people suffering from stress and mental conditions related to the current COVID pandemic, Massage therapy should be considered part of the group of essential services in treating these ailments. Massage Therapists are highly trained to rigorous standards, approved by the Ministry of Health, and capable of greater measures to lessen the spread of this pandemic.
Please, take into consideration that there are many facts that demonstrate considering massage therapy as essential is vital to the health of the community. We ask you to consider massage therapy and services provided by Registered Massage Therapists as essential health services, the same as with our colleagues in regulated Healthcare professions.
We ask you to allow Massage therapy services to remain open to serve our patients and permit the people of the province respite from stress, pain and chronic physical discomfort.
Let the registered massage therapists of 2200 hour or more designations resume their work in a modified, safe and controlled manner. This maintains the financial stability of the therapists, and allows better quality of life for the patient.
