Before you trust your own health and wellness journey to any practitioner or therapist, it is valuable to know their personal story. I am often asked what lead me to the professional education I invested in and how my life experience has created the reasons why I passionately enjoy practicing both massage therapy and holistic nutrition consulting.
All my life I have been involved in sport and activity. I also have a strong love for singing, dancing and music. Both have taught me about our amazing human body and how important it is to take care of ourselves at any age. Taking a Bachelor of Physical Education/Kinesiology Degree was a natural step for me out of high school, as I wanted to know more about the human body and how to help others with their own health and wellness. Kinesiology is the study of the human body in motion. I am fascinated by how the body systems work together in a fascinating interconnected way. I had a rewarding career with the YMCA of Calgary in Fitness Management for many years helping others to reach their full potential every day.
After having 3 beautiful boys and being a stay at home mother for 15 years, I found myself searching to re-connect with my own body and to feel stronger heading into my 40’s. It has always been natural for me to want to help others heal and grow into their best version of themselves. I went back to school with my family’s support to graduate with a diploma as a Registered Massage Therapist and was eager to work with people to make a difference in their health.
Fast forward to now…many of my massage therapy clients come to me with symptoms that are not always explained by only the muscular and skeletal systems. I found myself researching and reading about other ways to assist my clients to feel better. Nutrition wasn’t a topic that was covered in much depth in either my Kinesiology or Massage Therapy programs so that is what lead me to the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition (CSNN). I graduated with a diploma with honors as a Certified Holistic Nutritional Consultant. I am so excited to work with people to help them discover the healing powers of natural, whole and good quality food. The way of looking at everyone as a unique biochemical being is so relevant today. Using Holistic Nutrition helps not only the body but also the mind and spirit. This powerful combination of therapeutic massage therapy and holistic nutrition is what I believe will help transform a person towards an improved way of living a healthy lifestyle. I strongly believe that self-care isn’t selfish but necessary in order to be your best for others in your life.
