Hey Everyone! I hope you're all having a great week!
Personal share, but it's important. If you're facing major or minor surgery, I hope this list is helpful!
I had abdominal surgery a week ago for endometriosis and cyst removal. I went undiagnosed for 30 years, despite incredible pain every month, sometimes to the point of almost fainting, often vomiting, and landing in the hospital multiple times in my 20s. All they did was keep giving me stronger pain killers. In my mid-30s it went largely silent and my pain got better. I had intermittent fatigue and other GI symptoms, but nothing consistent. I had already changed my diet significantly and I'm sure that's why my symptoms improved.
I finally had an episode 2 years ago that they thought may have been an ovarian torsion (it was the worst pain of my life), which got the ball rolling for testing. The ER Doc I saw a week after my episode was the first Doctor in my life who actually listened and immediately thought he might know what was going on. Testing ensued, I was scheduled for surgery, and when they got in there they realized I was in stage 4 endometriosis with dermoid cysts and endometriomas. My routine surgery became exploratory and passed on to a specialist. I was diagnosed with frozen pelvis with talk of hysterectomy.
Fast forward to last Monday, and I have finally had surgery. They removed a bunch of adhesions to my bowel, removed cysts, one o***y, fallopian tubes, and freed up some surrounding tissue. I didn't have a hysterectomy 🎉 It was a 4 hour surgery, and I'm really thankful it all went according to plan!
My pre-surgery prep food was very similar to my recovery, and other than being sore and needing to take it easy, I'm feeling great! I'm eating the above list every day, and feeling better each day. My sleep gets better daily as well. I didn't need to take anything stronger than Advil and Tylenol. I don't like taking anything, but it was necessary in this case. I'm resting a lot, walking around the house and getting the courage up for an outside walk, doing red light therapy, and watching a lot of good YouTube videos!
