Exchiela Benusic, MA, Registered Provisional Psychologist
Exchiela Benusic was born and raised in Alberta. She has completed a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology degree and a Master’s of Arts in Counselling Psychology degree. During part of this time she volunteered at a school for impoverished children in Nicaragua working as a humanitarian. She also spent a year living on Vancouver Island working as a counsellor at the Nanaimo Family Life Association. Exchiela is a Registered Provisional Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologist’s. She has a combined total of 15-years experience working in the mental health field, which includes working in a hospital.
Exchiela uses an integrated approach when working with her clients, which includes Person-Centered Counselling, Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems, combined with an experiential approach. In addition, Exchiela also offers EMDR Therapy and Emotion Freedom Techniques (EFT) such as tapping. Tapping/EFT is a unique therapy that targets trauma, anxiety and stress by tapping on meridian points on the body. This helps move stuck energy by sending calming signals to your brain. In addition to these, Exchiela can help with stress management, sustaining work-life balance, self-esteem, improving personal boundaries, mind-body-spirit wellness, interpersonal relationship challenges, addiction, trauma release and anger management. She can work with adults individually on a one-on-one basis.
In her spare time, Exchiela enjoys spending time with her family and Basset Hound, Tucker. Exchiela’s hobbies include travelling, hiking, reading, yoga, meditation, volunteering in her community, and supporting traumatized animals through providing support to non-profit organizations.
