After a hiatus from social media for the summer, I’m back to remind you to book your horse in for that tune up before the winter hits!
Winter brings lots of standing still around round bales, stiffness, and slower recovery. Counter act these things by giving your equine partner the leg up they need!

Is your horse struggling to improve, even with consistent bodywork?
Is there lifestyle healthy? (Getting enough turn out, healthy natural diets, socialization, etc)
Are their hooves well taken care of?
Are their teeth on a regular schedule?

If not…. Bodywork can only do so much

“Bodywork is too expensive”
Let’s break this down.
What you may not know is that bodywork actually saves you money in the long run. Through consistent, regular maintenance of your horse’s body, teeth, and hooves the likelihood of those big emergency vet bills goes down. A LOT. Having someone who is familiar with your horse running their hands on their body on a regular basis means that they know what their “normal” is and will likely catch something going wrong and refer you to a vet, EARLY ON.
A maintenance schedule of bodywork for your horse is the first step in prevention.

Let’s talk about warm-up and cool down.
Want to save money? To improve performance? To speed up recovery time?
It is as simple as spending a little more time warming up and cooling down your horse on either side of your regular riding schedule.
A sufficient warm up and cool down will prevent soft tissue strain and help reduce the risk of injuries, in other words, save you vet bill expenses.
If you want to level up your warmup and cool down routine, message me for tips and exercises.

The infamous SI joints… is it only one joint? Can we palpate it?
Through my conversations at the barn, the SI joints have come up a lot. They are often injected when the vet finds no other signs of lameness causations lower in the limbs.
Does your horse check some of these boxes?
Do you want to have a professional walk along side you, narrow down potential causes of lameness, and then point you in the right direction?
And do all this for free?
I will do a thorough assessment, write up a detailed case report, and if needed, refer you to a veterinarian .
Let me know if you learned something today, or want to book a free 30 minute assessment, message me for details.

I’ve heard of too many rogue bodyworkers causing damage and hurting horses.
A major red flag I watch out for in equine bodyworkers is whether they look legit or not. Do they have a website or Facebook? Do they have colleagues who can vouch for them? Do they leave their clients with paperwork?
Sure, you might be getting a cheaper deal, but is it the same standard of care?
Let me know your thoughts, or if you have any stories to share

In Alberta equine bodywork is not regulated by the government, that means that ANYBODY can work on your horse and market themselves as a professional.
I think it is our responsibility as horse owners to ensure our horses are getting the highest care.

But don’t worry, you can have peace of mind.
I have completed 400+ hours of training, not including my anatomy prerequisite course and I STILL want to learn more. I am enrolled in another course this fall because I am passionate about continuing education and bringing my best self to you and your horse.

What to expect at a Village Equine treatment?
Professional, thorough, and expansive care that goes beyond just an hour of bodywork. I am committed to caring for your horse thoroughly EVERY TIME. Not cutting corners by skipping a gait analysis, or not sending paperwork.
Your horses journey is my highest commitment.

Does your horse struggle at the canter on one lead more than the other?
Do they swish their tail and hop into the transition?
Do they always pick up the wrong lead?
Do they struggle with flying lead changes only going one way?

These could all be fixable with the right care.

Let’s work together to:
Determine the root cause
Create a protocol
And watch you and your horse succeed
