The dance floor was alive last night at McKenzie Towne! Residents had a blast enjoying an evening of great music, singing and laughter with all the toe-tapping fun and musical prowess of Brian Yorke.
Our very own Executive Director ā€“ Amy, joined in on the celebrations, making time to dance with some of the residents and make the evening even more special.
A big thank you to the talented Brian Yorke, for bringing the energy and keeping the room buzzing with joy. From swaying sing-alongs to lively dancing, the smiles said it all.

At Lynwood Park, residents are celebrated as individuals with unique stories, passions, and dreams. Through the 'Living Dreams' initiative, those dreams are brought to life in meaningful ways.

Recently, Karen fulfilled her lifelong love of music by attending a Jann Arden concert with her granddaughter, while Ernest, a vintage car enthusiast, enjoyed a ride in a restored 1932 Auburn.

Weā€™ll be serving up something ā€œwell doneā€ very soon.

Our dining room renovations in both Independent Living and the Care Units are almost ready to plate! The crews have been ā€œstirring the potā€ for the couple of months, but now the recipe of a successful renovation is nearly complete for this serving.

Soon our residents will be able to enjoy meals in spaces that are as fresh as the soup of the day. The finishing touches are being addedā€”think of it like the garnish on a five-star dish.

We canā€™t wait to ā€œdish outā€ the big reveal soonā€¦ and trust us, itā€™ll be worth the wait (and the weight of all those construction tools).

We'll cook something up for the big reveal once the timer dings and the dust settles (and we clean it up).

What happens when two lively retirement communities come together? Pure magic! āœØ

Active Living Managers Diane (McKenzie Towne) & Kayla (Scenic Acres) joined forces and provided a wonderful day out experience for everyone.

Residents from McKenzie Towne Retirement Residence and Scenic Acres spent the day at the stunning William Watson Lodge in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park. Surrounded by breathtaking mountain views and fresh alpine air, our groups shared laughter, stories, and plenty of smiles. You could almost say the hills are alive with the sound of laughter!

The best part wasnā€™t just the scenery (though it was spectacular). It was watching friendships form and communities connect. When McKenzie Towne and Scenic Acres get together, the mountains arenā€™t the only thing that feels uplifting! ā›°ļøšŸ’™

Lions and tigers and.... wait for it.... walkers!? Oh my!

McKenzie Towne residents took a walk on the wild side during our visit to Roar! We certainly fitted right in with the locals... er.. animals. Well, okay maybe just some of us roared with delight, and a few folks were

We mingled with Hugs and Kisses, they're miniature horses ambassador's. These gentle giants were so happy to meet with each of our residents in turn and pose with their best hoof forward!

Turns out, the wildest part of the day wasn't the animal-themed adventures - it was just how fast our residents fell in love with these 2 fuzzy little charmers!

Renovations! No Problem!

At McKenzie Towne, the hammer's are still swinging, and progress is being made on the first phase of our renovations, and the floors are starting to look fancy smancy!

We're also adding some touches to our nursing stations, and expanding them outwards a little bit. Our team deserves extra room to work their magic in a space that deserves to be celebrated!

Here at McKenzie Towne, we believe in sustainability and in giving credit where credit is due! So a big shout out is needed for our resident Jack (errr) Victor-of-all-trades, our very own garden guru, water whisper, and hose hero!

Our Executive Director decided it was high time to equip Victor with a brand new expandible rubber rain barrel - because when life gives you rain, Victor makes it flourish!

Now he's catching rain like it's going out of style, and using every drop to keep our gardens greener than Kermit the Frog on Earth Day

Our suites will also be receiving some attention when the need arises. The first of our newly renovated suites are ready to welcome their newest resident, with a fresh, modern feel - without losing the cozy charm of home that we love!

From bright new white cabinetry and stylish new flooring, to walk-in showers, extra storage space, and updated lighting fixtures, every detail has been thoughtfully designed with comfort and convenience in mind. And of course - everything has been freshly painted for that crisp, clean finish we all love!

Residents at Venvi Churchill Place were treated to a tasty presentation from a local student entrepreneur. Charlotte, a 15-year-old with a passion for baking, started her business, Grain & Loaf Co, to showcase that healthy can also mean delicious. Specializing in whole grain, good for you baked items, Charlotte is dedicated to bringing fresh, locally sourced, and handcrafted goods to customers.

Joined by her mother and grandmother, Charlotte brought her baked scones, muffins, and challah bread to share with residents, who were inspired by her energy and passion. She shared her story, recounting how she had taught herself to bake through trial and error, experimenting with healthier ingredients to make her treats more nutritious without sacrificing taste.

By the end of the presentation, Charlotte not only shared her delicious baked goods but also forged connections bridging generations through the joy of baking.

The Bentley Regina recently celebrated their grand re-opening after months of renovations. Residents were joined by Reginaā€™s Mayor, Chad Bachynski, and other members of the community who were able to enjoy the inviting new spaces. The residence features an ode to The Capitol Theatre and an all-new pub called The Honking Goose Tavern. Guests had the opportunity to sample the Pension Plan Pilsner, a collaboration with The Bentley Regina and Pile O Bones Brewery located in Regina - a true Saskatchewan beer. Residents at Portsmouth retirement residence demonstrated exceptional generosity and community spirit by swiftly raising $700 to aid fire evacuees in Manitoba during a critical state of emergency. Armed with these funds, the Active Living Manager and three of Portsmouth's most enthusiastic shoppers embarked on a mission to Dollarama and Walmart. There, they purchased essential supplies ranging from hygiene products, diapers, and wipes to toiletries, small toys, craft supplies, and individually packaged snacks. Way to go, Portsmouth!
