Travellers intending to visit a destination in a developing country should consult a Travel Medical Specialist before the journey. Travelling to another country exposes your body to environments that you may not be used to, like changes in altitude, humidity, disease agents and temperature which could result extreme illness or even death. In order to protect and educate yourself for your travels, you should book an appointment to see one of our Travel Health Pharmacist. This consultation should take place at least 6-9 weeks ahead of your trip and takes about 45 minutes. If you are making a lengthy or complicated trip, or if you have a chronic disease you may want to book your appointment well in advance of your trip. However, it is never too late to schedule a last minute appointment as Shoppers Drug Mart Stampede Station is dedicated to serving its clients. The consultation will include information about the most important health risk, determine the need for any vaccinations and/or antimalarial medication and identify any other medical items that the traveller may require. Pre-travel counselling is essential to assure a safe and healthy vacation. Schedule an appointment at least 2-3 months prior to departure by calling us at (403)294-1433.
