Recently, CBI Health was proud to participate in the 5th Annual Shannon Cassidy Memorial Co-ed Lob Ball Tournament in Belleville, Ontario. The tournament raised over $11,000 to support programs, people, and possibilities in our local communities, keeping Shannon’s spirit alive and shining.

Shannon Cassidy had a heart for children, making every kid feel seen, special, and safe. This tournament is one of the ways her legacy lives on, inspiring kindness, connection, and community spirit.

Our CBI Health team was onsite, supporting athletes, spectators, and the community while reflecting our core values of Heart, Respect, and Teamwork.

Alana Lunn has been a valued member of the CBI Health Nanaimo team since 2004, bringing expertise, leadership, and compassion to every role she’s held. Over the past two decades, she has made a lasting impact as a skilled Occupational Therapist and Hand Therapist, supportive Manager, trusted mentor, and reliable teammate.

Known for her heart, humour, and professionalism, Alana lifts up everyone around her, whether guiding clients through recovery or supporting her team through challenges.

Her commitment to client care and her calm, steady leadership have touched countless lives.

Meet Yanni from our Community Rehab Services team: an occupational therapist, dedicated leader, and proud Ironman triathlete! 🏊🏅 ‍‍

Yanni’s passion for OT began at home after growing up in a family affected by Huntington’s chorea. Seeing the impact of this neurodegenerative disease inspired him to help others adapt to their environment and daily life with compassion and creativity.

His journey didn’t stop there. Taking on a management role came from his desire to solve problems, support his team, and help others grow and succeed in their own work. 🙌

Yanni’s key lesson from managing clinic services is that no communication is bad communication. Open dialogue with clients, funders, and healthcare teams, even when it feels like tough news, builds trust, strong therapeutic rapport, and better outcomes for everyone. 🗣️✨

Outside of work, Yanni achieved something incredible by completing an Ironman triathlon. Training for such a demanding event takes months of discipline and resilience. To stay motivated, he kept his “why” front and center on his phone, computer backgrounds, and whiteboard, turning motivation into daily dedication. Waking up early to train gave him both time and energy to stay focused throughout the day. 💪☀️

This tournament keeps her legacy alive, with all raffle proceeds going back to support local programs that make a real difference in our communities.

CBI Health is honored to support this event because it truly reflects what we believe in, which is showing up for each other with heart, respect, and teamwork. Our PTs, kinesiologists, and team members will be there on the ground, cheering on athletes and offering support to everyone involved.
