🧘♀️ Nearly 500 Ways to Make a Yoga Mat Sandwich 🍞
Azodicarbonamide (ADA) is a chemical used to make yoga mats, flip-flops, and insulation — but it’s also allowed in some Canadian breads and baked goods as a “dough conditioner.”
It helps make mass-produced bread soft, springy, and easy to ship — but it’s not food in the way we traditionally define it.
🚫 Banned in Europe & Australia
✅ Still permitted in Canada (up to 45 ppm)
While the FDA and Health Canada allow it in small amounts, ADA has been linked to respiratory and skin issues in factory workers — and hasn’t been thoroughly studied for long-term effects in consumers.
The good news? Awareness is growing.
As more Canadians demand clean labels and real food, many brands are quietly phasing it out. But some products still contain it — especially processed, packaged, or frozen baked goods.

Bread shouldn’t share ingredients with yoga mats.

🌸 Spring is here... so is spring cleaning! 🧽☀️
Before you grab your go-to spray bottle, here’s something to think about: many common cleaning products contain hidden chemicals that can affect your health — and don’t always tell you what’s inside. 😬
That’s why I love the EWG’s Guide to Healthy Cleaning — it rates over 2,500 products from A to F based on safety and ingredient transparency. ✅ Some are even EWG VERIFIED®, meaning they meet the highest standards for health and transparency. 🌿
🧼 Spring cleaning safety tips:
• Open windows for ventilation
• Wear gloves
• Never mix cleaning products
• Store safely to avoid accidental exposure

Remove forever chemicals from your water supply by utilizing a water filter for a clean water source. While Calgary's water is perceived as excellent, I am troubled by the potential for contaminants that cannot be filtered by municipal systems, particularly with the expected introduction of fluoride in early 2025. https://youtu.be/z4d494nsOLI
One way to reduce harmful forever chemicals in your home is to use a water filter rather than drink straight from the faucet. But with so many filters on the...

Nourishing Your Golden Years: The Importance of Proper Nutrition for Aging.
As we gracefully journey through the golden years, one aspect that deserves our attention is proper nutrition.!
The significance of maintaining a good diet becomes increasingly crucial as our bodies age. Let's delve into the reasons why prioritizing nutrient-rich foods is vital for a healthier and more fulfilling life in the later stages.
1. **Supporting Overall Health:**
Nutrient-rich foods provide essential vitamins and minerals that play a pivotal role in supporting overall health. A well-balanced diet can contribute to a stronger immune system, better bone health, and improved cardiovascular function.
2. **Energy Boost and Vitality:**
As we age, our metabolism tends to slow down, and energy levels may decline. Consuming nutrient-dense foods helps ensure a steady supply of energy, promoting vitality and reducing the risk of fatigue.
3. **Maintaining Muscle Mass:**
Adequate protein intake becomes increasingly important with age to preserve muscle mass and strength. This is crucial for maintaining mobility, preventing falls, and sustaining an active lifestyle.
4. **Cognitive Well-being:**
Nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamins play a crucial role in supporting cognitive function. A diet rich in these elements has been linked to a lower risk of cognitive decline and conditions such as dementia.
5. **Bone Health and Osteoporosis Prevention:**
Calcium and vitamin D are essential for maintaining strong and healthy bones. Ensuring an adequate intake of these nutrients can help prevent osteoporosis and reduce the risk of fractures.
6. **Heart Health:**
Aging often brings an increased risk of heart-related issues. A diet low in saturated fats and high in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains can contribute to better heart health, reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
7. **Digestive Health:**
Fiber-rich foods are essential for maintaining good digestive health. They aid in preventing constipation, promoting regular bowel movements, and supporting a healthy gut microbiome.
8. **Weight Management:**
As metabolism changes with age, maintaining a healthy weight becomes crucial. A nutrient-dense diet helps manage weight by providing essential nutrients without excess calories.
Embracing a diet rich in nutrients is a powerful tool for promoting overall well-being and longevity. It's never too late to make positive changes to your eating habits.
By prioritizing proper nutrition, we can ensure that our golden years are filled with health, vitality, and the joy of living life to the fullest.
