Between Friends Between Friends facilitates programs with these goals in mind while promoting a focus on shared interests over individual differences.

Many people with disabilities seek social and recreational activities that are fundamental to enriching self-esteem, quality of life, and mental and physical health. Between Friends offers children, youth and adults a variety of programs that remove the barriers of isolation and truly function as the building blocks of friendship. We encourage diversity by connecting our community with their fellow citizens with disabilities, providing ongoing development and benefitting all people through the sharing of unique talents and perspectives

Did you know that 68% of youth and adults with disabilities report feeling severe loneliness?

At Between Friends, we aim to create spaces that provide opportunities for our members to build relationships. Around half of our members joined Between Friends looking to build connections, and nearly all of them report having made a friend through our programs.

These opportunities would not be possible without your support.

Today, we’re launching our Year End Campaign and asking you to help us Give the Gift of Joy. Your donation will go directly to making sure our programs continue to be a space where people of all abilities can build friendships and connections. This is your friendly reminder that there are no programs running from November 9 - November 15th.

On Monday, November 10th, our office will be closed to in person visitors, but we will still be around on phone, email, and social media to answer your questions!

On Tuesday, November 11th, our office will be closed, and our team will not be available.

We will see you back in the office on November 12th, and in programs on November 16th!

Today we want to acknowledge the United Way of Calgary and Area, one of our original funders and a true supporter of inclusion since the early 1980s.

Their ongoing funding and partnership have given Between Friends the flexibility to support the programs and members who need it most. Since 2007 alone, the United Way has contributed nearly $2 million toward creating belonging and connection for children, youth, and adults with disabilities ❤️

We simply couldn’t do what we do without their incredible support. Thank you, United Way of Calgary and Area, for being such an essential part of the Between Friends story.
