Low back pain, pregnant or not, can be debilitating! Making simple everyday tasks more difficult. SI joint pain can be a major cause of your pain. During pregnancy it can be related to relaxin, a hormone that causes your muscles and ligaments to relax, allowing space for your growing fetus. Due to your growing uterus, some core/pelvis muscles get stretched and weakened. It IS common and it IS correctable!
Here are a few ways to help ease low back pain:
🌿Get a massage!! Helps to loosen those tight muscles, instant relief!
🌿Low impact strengthening exercises for low back. Should be performed in a slow and controlled manner, held for up to 10 seconds and repeated 10-30 times.
🌿Stretching, such as Yoga poses that are gentle and slow....for example, sitting on the floor bring the soles of your feet together and let your knees come to the floor, relax into the stretch.
🌿Rest and self care, whether that be mediation, yoga or just curling up on the couch with a good book!
