Stepping outside together for a meaningful cause 💙

Residents, families, and team members at AgeCare Samac (Oshawa, ON) and AgeCare Trilogy (Scarborough, ON) came together in support of the Annual Alzheimer’s Walk, raising awareness for an important cause that touches so many individuals and families in our communities.

At AgeCare Trilogy, the walk became more than an event. After a long winter indoors, it was an opportunity for residents to enjoy fresh air, movement, and meaningful time together surrounded by encouragement and support.

Thank you to everyone who participated, supported the cause, and helped make the day so special.

Today, the AgeCare team and notable guests including Deputy Mayor of the City of Chestermere Dr. Ritesh Narayan, Dr. Hasmukh Patel, Dr. Kabir Jivraj, Salimah Walji-Shivji, Ashiana Jivraj, and Dr. Shallen Letwin of Assisted Living Alberta gathered to mark the opening of AgeCare Dawson, a brand new state-of-the-art continuing care community located in Chestermere, Alberta.

This beautifully designed 207-bed community features six care neighbourhoods, private suites, and thoughtfully designed amenities, all created with residents’ comfort and quality of life at heart.
�Residents, families, team members, and community partners came together for the official ribbon-cutting, celebrating a continued commitment to person-centred, dignified care where people feel supported, connected, and at home.
�We are so proud to open our doors in Chestermere.

For more than five decades, Allie has been part of the heart and history of AgeCare Elmira (Elmira, ON). 💙

Allie first joined the home in 1974 as a nurse’s aide and later graduated with honours from one of the area’s first Health Care Aide programs. Over the years, she supported residents and staff in many roles before becoming a volunteer in 1989, continuing a connection that has now spanned 52 remarkable years.

From helping with programs and organizing cherished spaces to sharing laughter through skits and performances, Allie has brought kindness, joy, and a deep sense of community to generations of residents, families, and team members.

She has also preserved the history of the home through scrapbooks and stories, recently returning to share those memories with residents and reflect on the Elmira community through her experiences.

We are so grateful for Allie’s lifelong dedication and the care she continues to bring to our community every day.

Residents at AgeCare Willowgrove (Ancaster, ON) spent the evening enjoying music and plenty of favourite songs during a neon karaoke night club event. 🎤

Hosted by Recreation team members Chelsea, Hardi, and Beckie, the space was transformed with colourful neon decor and fun lighting as residents took turns singing into the microphone. With a full room and lots of participation, the evening brought everyone together through music and shared memories.

It was a meaningful morning at AgeCare McKenzie Towne (Calgary, AB) as members of the Executive Leadership Team, including CEO Salimah Walji-Shivji, came together with residents, families, employees and community members for the official unveiling of AgeCare’s 2025 Annual Report.

The key theme of the Annual Report is “Our people.” At AgeCare everything we do is made possible by our people, the incredible employees who care for our residents and support our communities each day. Through commitment, passion, empathy and expertise, our people ensure every resident experience and interaction reflects dignity, respect and quality care.

The Annual Report is celebration of our people — the heart of AgeCare. You will meet employees from across our organization who make a difference every day. You will read stories of compassion, excellence and growth — and learn about some of the ways we empower, support and celebrate our people.

Last week, we celebrated National Nursing Week by recognizing the compassion, dedication, and person-centred care our nursing teams bring to residents and families every day. 💙

At AgeCare Sandringham (Victoria, BC), residents shared their appreciation by creating handmade cards for the nursing team, while celebrations throughout the week helped honour the important role nurses play within the community.

At Gibson Long-Term Care Residence (North York, ON), staff gathered for a special luncheon to recognize the hard work and commitment of the nursing team and celebrate the impact they make each day.

For Mother’s Day weekend, residents at AgeCare Aylmer (Aylmer, ON) enjoyed a special visit from baby farm animals, bringing back memories for many lifelong farmers in the home.

The weekend also included a thoughtful surprise from the AgeCare Aylmer Auxiliary, who made sure each resident received a beautiful rose hand-delivered by members of the Aylmer Fire Department. Their kindness helped make the day feel extra special for the women in our community.

It was a very special Mother’s Day weekend for all. 💙

Across AgeCare communities last week, Hand Hygiene Day was recognized with fun, interactive learning experiences that reinforced the importance of safe practices. 💙

At AgeCare Riverview (Medicine Hat, AB), educator Nicole (aka “Ms. Washy Washy”) and MDS Coordinator Ashley (aka “Germs”) brought hand hygiene awareness throughout the home with fun and interactive activities. Staff tested their handwashing skills, joined conversations around the four key moments of hand hygiene, and had the chance to win prizes for the cleanest hands.

AgeCare SkyPointe (Calgary, AB) also came together for engaging activities and discussions that encouraged learning, teamwork, and awareness around the role hand hygiene plays in keeping residents, staff, and visitors safe.

Today, we’re celebrating the mothers and mother figures who bring love, strength, wisdom, and connection to our communities every day.

At AgeCare Shawnee (Calgary, AB), residents and staff spent the afternoon last week flower arranging and creating beautiful bouquets together for Mother’s Day. The arrangements brightened the home, but it was the shared stories and time spent together that made the day especially memorable.
