Did you know Alberta doctors' investment in our health care is significant. Doctors provide almost all of the community health infrastructure in the province through our billings.

Doctors’ fees pay for thousands of jobs in the health care field and pay for the facilities where millions of patient visits occur every year.

When disclosing physician pay, context matters. You can learn more about physician pay in our Context Matters: The Facts about Physician Compensation in Alberta document:https://www.albertadoctors.org/News%20pdfs/context-matters-facts-phys-compensation-.pdf

Cochrane physicians respond to MLA Guthrie

"The AMA has asked this government repeatedly to come back to the negotiating table. They have requested an independent binding arbitrator to settle this dispute, but the UCP steadfastly refuse. Why do you suppose this is? An unbiased perspective would not support their position, and that is why they continue to publish their inaccurate facts while turning their backs on attempts to move forward with negotiations."

cochranetimes.com With respect to the health of Cochranites and Albertans, who are you to believe? A politician towing the party-line, or the committed and caring physicians who live and work in Cochrane? For months …

Alberta's doctors have been without a contract since February and the government has refused to re-open negotiations. A pandemic is a terrible time to destabilize the health care system; we need to get #backtothetable, Minister.

This will be critical to successful relaunch in Alberta. Even if your symptoms are mild, if there is any chance you might be contagious you must self-isolate for at least 10 days!

Spread this advice. If you’re feeling sick and have a cough, fever, runny nose, sore throat, shortness of breath, stay home until you’re feeling better and at least 10 days have passed since your symptoms showed up.

SCMC's nurses have been amazing during a very challenging few months; we are so proud of the team we have and applaud our nurses, medical office assistants and reception staff for all their hard work and their indefatigable spirits, making SCMC such a great place to work and a welcoming place for patients to continue to come to.

To all nurses: We can't thank you enough for all that you do, especially during this critical time.

As our province faces the worst public health crisis in decades, the Provincial Government would rather play petty politics than negotiate a fair deal with Alberta’s doctors.

Tell the government it’s time to get back to the negotiating table.
