97 stayed in residence

The longer the stay, the better the chance for life-long sobriety

Founded in 1995, Oxford House Foundation of Canada is a non-profit organization that provides self-run, peer-supported sober recovery homes for men and women who have a history of substance abuse and are homeless or at risk of homelessness. By providing a safe and stable environment where men and women can focus on their recovery, Oxford House supports individuals to develop the skills necessary for self-sufficiency and successful reintegration back into society. Oxford House has 28 recovery homes operating in Calgary, Drumheller and Edmonton. When men and women in recovery come to Oxford House, they have already taken some important steps on their road to recovery. They’re ready to work hard. They know they’ll get out what they put in. And when they take the next step to live in an Oxford Home, they know we’ll support them. Because we’ve been there and know how important this step is. Recovery without relapse is possible in an Oxford home. Each home forms its own family and is situated in a suburban neighbourhood away from danger areas. The peer support of other residents in the house who have experienced many of the same difficulties is a benefit to our residents. They find understanding and hope while learning how to live with life’s challenges.

Oxford House is making last-minute preparations to welcome our incredible team captains, walkers, and volunteers to today’s event — and today, we celebrate YOU.

We celebrate those of you who bravely asked your friends and families to donate to your walk in support of Oxford House and the people striving for lifelong sobriety in our sober living homes. Your courage and commitment ripple farther than you know.

We celebrate our welcome, route, and food volunteers — the smiling faces, the steady hands, the behind-the-scenes heroes who make everything run smoothly. Thank you for being the heartbeat of this event.

We celebrate our generous sponsors: Fortress Roofing, Exteriors & Windows, Visionstate, TNT Real Estate Pros, Scientific Supplies Centre, and Medicine Place. Your generosity helps create safe, supportive homes where recovery can truly take root.

And we celebrate each of you who stepped into leadership — guiding the Welcome/Check-in Crew, Volunteer Management, Route, and Food teams. Your willingness to serve makes this day possible.

Today is about community. Today is about hope. Today is about people coming together to support lifelong sobriety.

We can’t wait to welcome you.
See you soon!

Recovery is not just about staying sober, it’s about building a life of purpose and value.

Sobriety isn’t something we “win” once and then put on a shelf. It’s something we choose every single day. When we get complacent, when we start to think “I’ve got this now,” that’s often when the old patterns start creeping back in.

Recovery asks more of us than just putting the substance down. It asks us to replace old habits with new ones, old thinking with healthier thinking, and isolation with connection. It means showing up—on the hard days, the boring days, and the days when no one is watching.

This is serious work. Life-changing work. And it’s worth protecting with daily intention, honesty, and action.

If you’re in recovery today, keep going. Take it seriously. Invest in it. The life you’re building depends on it.

“Reflecting on my journey through recovery from addiction, one powerful truth stands out: the only person I can control is myself. It's been a challenging road but understanding this has been key. I can't change others, their actions, or their choices. But I can choose my own path, my own actions, and my own recovery. It's empowering to realize that my healing journey is in my hands. Here's to focusing on what I can control and embracing the journey ahead.”

❄️ Coldest Night of the Year Update ❄️

Look at you… basically the superheroes of fundraising 🦸‍♂‍🦸‍♀‍ (minus the capes, but hey, it’s cold anyway).

Current stats:
💰 Raised: $11,830

Still missing: YOU (yep, you with the snacks, sitting on the couch 😏)

👟 start a team
🚶 Join a team
🙋 Volunteer

Sign up at www.cnoy.org, pick Calgary Chinook (Oxford House), and follow the prompts. Boom. You’re basically a hero now.

Every $135 raised = 1 month in a sober living home. Translation:
💵 $31.50/week
💵 $4.50/day
💵 Less than your fancy latte (and literally better karma ☕✨)

Who to ask for donations? Basically everyone in your contacts:
👩 Mom (she owes you anyway)
💏 Your other half (it’s romantic, trust me)
👫 Siblings (they’ll complain, then pay)
💼 Boss (bold move, but hey, power lunch?)
💖 BFF (peer pressure is real)

So put on those fuzzy socks, and let’s make a difference—one chilly step at a time! ❄️🚶‍♂

Our Story

Founded in 1995, Oxford House Foundation of Canada is a non-profit organization that provides peer-supported sober recovery homes for men and women who have a history of substance abuse and are homeless or at risk of homelessness. By providing a safe and stable environment where men and women can focus on their recovery, Oxford House supports individuals to develop the skills necessary for self-sufficiency and successful reintegration back into society. Oxford House has 28 recovery homes operating in Calgary, Edmonton and Drumheller. When men and women in recovery come to Oxford House, they have already taken some important steps on their road to recovery. They’re ready to work hard to maintain their recovery and take the necessary steps toward independent, financially sustainable and more fulfilling lives. And when they move into an Oxford Home, they know we’ll welcome and support them with information and resources within the recovery, and greater community.

Why?

Because we’ve been there and understand that acceptance, hope, honesty, personal accountability, goal setting, and gratitude are crucial to long-term recovery.

When asked why the program works, residents respond:
