For Mercedes and her son Jayden, stepping into Huby’s Hangout at the Calgary Flames game was a night they’ll never forget. It was their very first time at the Saddledome, and their very first NHL game.

From the joy in Jayden’s eyes to the special time spent together, the experience was more than hockey...it was about connection, hope, and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

We are so grateful to Calgary Flames the Flames Foundation and Jonathan Huberdeau for making this possible and for showing how sport can truly bring people together.

The 2025 Calgary International Film Festival - CIFF presented by Servus Credit Union, runs September 18-28 at various venues across the city! We’re excited to announce that CMHA Calgary is partnering with the Calgary International Film Festival (CIFF) as a Community Partner for the 2025 screening of Love, Harold, a powerful film that aligns with our mission to foster mental health awareness and community connection through storytelling.

About the film:
Filled to the brim with the heart, pain and healing one might find in a good group therapy session, LOVE, HAROLD is a profound gesture of cinematic empathy from one of Canada’s most distinctive filmmakers. When an old friend takes his own life, legendary Canadian documentarian Alan Zweig (COPPERS, CIFF 2019; HURT, CIFF 2015) seeks out others grappling with the su***de of a loved one. As hard as it can be to speak of such an unfathomable loss, 23 friends and acquaintances feel compelled to tell their stories. Zweig engages with them as only he can, reflecting with disarming candor on the grief and resilience of those left standing.

Content Advisory: This film contains discussions of su***de and the effects on survivors of su***de loss.

As part of this partnership, we are pleased to offer:

We were so proud to walk alongside our community at this year’s Pride Parade. Every cheer, every smile, every moment captured reminds us that showing up for one another creates safe and supportive spaces. Pride is a powerful reminder that support, action and allyship truly change lives… THIS is the whole point.💚🌈
