During Poetry Month, we’re reminded that words can help us make sense of what we’ve been through.

Spoken Word is a 4-session course where you can explore your recovery journey through poetry — in a space rooted in connection, creativity, and care.

You don’t need to be a poet. Just bring your story.

Stable housing changes everything.

That's why we’re proud to be working alongside partners Le Centre / The Centre and City of Calgary – Your Local Government Home Program to bring RentSmart to Calgary!

RentSmart is a practical, trauma-informed tenant education program focused on helping people build the skills and confidence to find and maintain housing. This is about supporting people earlier, strengthening community, and building stability before crisis.

Trans people deserve to be seen, supported, and celebrated—today and every day.

On International Transgender Day of Visibility, we recognize that visibility is powerful, and it should mean safety, dignity, and access to care.

At CMHA Calgary, we believe mental health care must be inclusive, affirming, and accessible for all!

All smiles from our amazing Women of Courage team! We’re so proud to share the launch of our Women of Courage program this week at CMHA Calgary 💚

With support from the Government of Alberta, this trauma-informed peer training initiative is now underway, creating space for survivors of family violence to reconnect with their strengths, build skills, and explore pathways into peer support work.

It’s already been incredibly powerful to see the courage, empathy, and connection in the room. Each participant brings lived experience, insight, and a willingness to support others, reminding us of the impact that can grow when people are given the right tools and support.

We’re grateful for the Government of Alberta’s investment in this work and in the individuals who are shaping stronger, more compassionate communities.

It is pretty sweet to support mental health in Calgary 🍬

Last week, we picked up some sour candies from Volio’s Confections to use in our Women of Courage classes as a simple grounding tool. Sometimes, it’s the small, sensory moments that can help bring us back to the present and create space to breathe.

It was so great to see so many community members and organizations come out to support CMHA Calgary at our Open House on Wednesday. We’re so grateful to welcome everyone into our new home!

We also introduced our Tree of Support and Partnership during the open house, a way for our community to share their names and organizations, and highlight the connections that help our work grow. Each tag represents the people and partnerships that make this work possible across Calgary.

Together, we help our community live, learn, and thrive!

What does it mean to invest in youth voices?

For Maliyah Chance, it means showing up, listening, and walking alongside young people as they build confidence and resilience.

In our latest blog, Maliyah shares how mentorship, community, and using your voice can create lasting impact.

Happy International Women’s Day!

Today and every day, we celebrate the women who shape our communities with strength, resilience, compassion, and leadership. At CMHA Calgary, we see every day how women support one another, advocate for mental health, and help create spaces of hope, connection, and belonging.

This year’s theme, Give to Gain, is a reminder that when we invest in and support women’s wellbeing, our entire community grows stronger.

When women feel heard, supported, and empowered, everyone benefits.
