I consider myself extremely lucky to be working in a field that I am passionate about. Let me take a moment to tell you a little bit more about my field, and how I can help you or a loved one with cancer.
My area of expertise is integrative oncology. This means that I provide treatments and supportive care while people are going through conventional cancer treatments, and afterwards to help them recover from those treatments. The treatments I provide prevent or lessen the side effects of chemotherapy or radiation, and help you maintain a good quality of life. Treatments also strengthen the immune system and reduce inflammation, which can help fight cancer.
When treatment is over, my role then shifts to helping you do everything possible to reduce your risk of recurrence. Mind/body therapies, exercise, nutrition, weight loss, and stress management play a big role in preventing recurrence, and I guide you through that, one step at a time.
They say that cancer is a journey, and so wherever you are in your journey, integrative oncology can likely play a role, and help to make it feel a lot less overwhelming.
