Resuming....

Set-backs, illness, injury, life. It happens. We fall out of routine and it's HARD to re-start!

For me, it was travel, illnesses and busy mom-life. Before I knew it a month had gone by without touching my weights. Lifting is a very important part of managing my hypermobility and mental health. Without it my body was sore / unstable and my brain was LOUD. And despite knowing how much I needed it, I just couldn't...get...started.

But today ended the hiatus. This time it required a morning off. A break from work/parenting. A gentle nudge from my partner. And a playful and gentle attitude with myself. I got restarted and it feels so good 👍🏻

Start with SOMETHING. Anything. Move in a way that feels good and go from there. Then celebrate the win 🥳

I'm here to cheer you on!

🌸 Watercolor florals to brighten up this April snow day🪻

I love leaning into a new hobby / creative outlet / productive procrastination / self care. Being creative is so good for the nervous system, even if it doesn't help with my to-do list.

⭐Functional Strength⭐

Core stability training isn't always planks and crunches. Sometimes it looks like this -- playing horsey-ride with your kids while wearing jammies. By using intentional movement and basic stability principles this game transforms from a back-ache-precursor to a 🔥 core training session.

Key Points:
- neutral pelvis
- intra abdominal pressure
- diaphragmatic breathing
- scapular stability
- chin tuck
- symmetric crawling pattern
- slow and controlled movement

Are you curious to learn how to make playtime more functional for you and your kids? Come chat with me

Last year I attended two DNS seminars - Pediatrics level 1 and 2. The neuro-centric approach to assessment and care resonated with me and now I'm heading back for more.

This weekend I'll be attending DNS Integrative Assessment which will explore how DNS exercises can be integrated with standard assessments and manual therapy for the spine. Basically I get to geek out about anatomy, neurology and development. My favorites!

I'll be back on Monday to show you what I've learned

Lift. Move. Build. Your future self will thank you. 💪

Whether returning from an injury or exercising for the first time, a strong foundation is key. My focus during this workout was core stability which I did with the DNS principles of neutral spine, diaphragmatic breathing and abdominal bracing. I teach these skills to my patients and always incorporate them at home.
