Happy International Nurses Day from Cards for Care Alberta! 🏥🩺 As we wrap up the day, we wanted to highlight some important aspects of what the day means to us, as well as the impact we were able to carry out.
Led by the International Council of Nurses (ICN), the International Nurses Day theme for 2026 is “Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives,” focusing on strengthening health systems through investment in the workforce.
Our Edmonton team is proud to have delivered 3519 thank you cards to nurses between the Stollery Children’s Hospital, the University of Alberta Hospital, the Misericordia Community Hospital, the Royal Alexandra Hospital, and the Grey Nuns Community Hospital.
Nurses are the backbone of every healthcare system, and we are proud to help empower these critical healthcare workers today and always. Being a nurse is not a glamorous job— it takes grit and dedication that is not always accompanied by the appreciation nurses deserve. We hope that every nurse who received a message today feels deeply appreciated.
To all of the amazing nurses out there, thank you for all that you do to keep our communities healthy. To our volunteers who helped blanket the city with kindness, thank you for your dedication to the Cards for Care community.
