“Piecing” Sharing Circles for Therapists and Professional Caregivers
Purpose of the Sharing Circles
The “Piecing” Sharing Circles are designed specifically for therapists, teachers, nurses, and other professional caregivers. These circles provide a dedicated space to openly share personal experiences, feelings, struggles, successes, and challenges encountered in daily life and work. In helping professions, giving is constant, yet there are few opportunities for caregivers themselves to express and reflect.
Inspiration and Structure
The circles are inspired by Indigenous Talking Circles, drawing upon traditions of communal sharing, respect, and attentive listening. Additionally, the spirit of quilt making—where each unique piece contributes to a harmonious whole—serves as a guiding metaphor for the creative and supportive community built within the circles.
