"Coping" describes how individuals manage and overcome problems. Coping being called a "skill" communicates the practice required to cope effectively, as you learn what works for you. It can also be called a "strategy" - sometimes one approach doesn't work, and you need to change tactics. There are nearly endless ways to cope, because there are so many sources of stress that individuals deal with in unique ways.
