Did you know that, according to the AAO, Albertans spend on average 10.5 hours on digital devices each day? All of the tech usage can lead to light sensitivity, blurred vision, and many other symptoms. Our doctors can recommend solutions such as blue light reflecting coatings to help keep your eyes comfortable.
Channeling the colors of fall with rich hues and stunning gold accents, Tory Burch is always in season.
Happy Thanksgiving, Calgary! Many thanks to all of our patients who have embraced us into this community. It has truly been a pleasure getting to know you and your families and we look forward to many more years in your service.
We hope you are able to enjoy stomping in crunchy fall leaves this weekend (instead of crunchy snow)! Our office will be closed from Saturday to Monday, reopening on Tuesday morning at 9am.
Children with vision problems can be misdiagnosed as having learning or behavioral disabilities. Have you gotten their eyes checked recently? Book your child an eye exam and let's start talking about eye health!
Our office will be closed from August 31 to September 2 and will be re-opening on Tuesday at 9am.
Have a great long weekend everyone!
Did you know that 80% of learning is visual? Your child may be able to see 20/20, but that is just the beginning. Clear, comfortable vision also requires the eyes to work as a team. If they are not playing well together, it can lead to headaches, eye strain, and difficulty with reading. A complete eye exam includes testing to ensure the eyes are seeing well AND are working together!
It's hard to know when the the eyes are fighting, so make an eye exam part of your back-to-school routine. Let's make sure your child's eyes are on the same team!
Have a great long weekend, Calgary!
We will be closed Saturday, August 3 through Monday, August 5. We are back to our usual business hours on Tuesday, August 6.
Does the sight of these delicious foods make your mouth water? Did you know they can keep your eyes moist too? A diet rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, such as those found in fish and flax seed, can help with symptoms of dry eye disease.
Plus, they are good for your vision! Eating plenty of leafy green and orange vegetables as well as colourful fruits like strawberries and tomatoes can protect against development of age related macular degeneration. A healthy diet means health eyes!
Happy Canada Day everyone! We wish you all a safe and joyful holiday! Our office will be closed for the day in celebration of our beautiful country.
This summer, as you are putting on your sunscreen, remember to also put on your sunglasses!
Even though newborns cry, they don't produce tears. Tears don't start flowing until between 4-13 weeks old.
Did you know your eyelashes play an important role in keeping dirt and dust out of your eye? They only have a life span of five months while the rest of your hair will last 2-4 years.
Only a few more days left to take advantage of our spring sale! Visit us to take a look at our fabulous eye wear selection and let our team help you to look and see your best!

We spent the afternoon learning about how UV light affects our eyes and how we can protect our eyes from the harmful effects of UV light in both clear and sun lenses! A big thank you to the Central Library for providing the fantastic meeting room and to Hoya for their support!
We are pleased to offer the latest technologies in UV light protection for your eyes. Clear lenses by Zeiss now provide the same UV protection as premium sunglasses! Keep you eyes healthy now and into the future! https://www.zeiss.ca/vision-care/en/eyeglass-lenses-from-zeiss/full-uv-protection-in-all-clear-lenses.html
zeiss.ca What is often forgotten is that UV rays are one of the most harmful challenges to long-term eye health, too. If you don't protect your eyes and surrounding skin this can result in harmful eye diseases, and UV radiation is always there. All year round, all day, whether in winter or in summer, in sunn...
Has all this snow and cold got you down? Are you daydreaming of life on the beach? All Maui Jim sunglasses are polarized and eliminate 99.9% of glare from snow and water. As we transition from winter to summer, make sure your eyes are protected from these uncomfortable reflections so you can continue to see the world clearly!
The World Health Organization estimates that 80% of lifetime UV exposure happens before we are 18 years old. This means it is important to protect children's eyes from an early age. In our kid's eye wear program, we use trivex lenses that provide 100% UV protection, even when they are clear!
Click the link below to learn more about how UV light impacts children's eyes:
opto.ca Ultraviolet radiation (UV) is an invisible component of sunlight that is most commonly known to cause sunburns and skin cancers. While some UV is filtered by the ozone layer, increasing amounts are reaching the earth as the ozone layer steadily diminishes.
When you are shopping for sunglasses keep in mind that tinted lenses don't necessarily protect you from UV light. In fact, wearing dark lenses without adequate UV protection will result in even more UV light entering your eyes because your pupils will dilate behind the tinted lenses. Make sure your sunglasses have full UVA and UVB protection to help maintain the health of your eyes.
Have an egg-celent long weekend!
We'll be closed from Friday April 19th to Sunday April 21st and will be reopen on Monday for regular business hours.
Can't put the book down? Then make sure the lights stay on! While it won't cause permanent damage, reading in poor lighting puts significant strain on your eyes and can make it much less enjoyable.

Do you know when your baby's first eye exam should take place? It's six to nine months! They will check to ensure things such as their eyes are healthy; eye and muscle movements and alignment are developing properly; and the eyes are focusing together. These exams are covered by Alberta Health. Learn more about children's eye exams https://bit.ly/2JxSaJR
What do vitamin C, zinc and omega 3 all have in common? They are all great for your eyes! Maintaining a healthy daily dose of vitamins and nutrients can help keep your eyes healthy.
This optical illusion has kept me occupied today for more time today then I'm willing to admit! Notice how bright white spots appear in the intersections of the top grid and dark spots appear in the bottom grid as you let your gaze wander across the image. Our brain is continually processing the data our retina captures to formulate the images we “see”. Sometimes what we see is a little different from what is actually there. Check out this article for more information on this fabulous illusion! http://ow.ly/yfmX30nTmSI
We will be closed for the long weekend, Saturday through Monday, and reopen again on Tuesday, February 19, 2019.
