Located in Calgary and Lethbridge Fresh Start Recovery Centre’s (FSRC) treatment program follows the disease concept: We see addiction as an illness that is progressive and often fatal if left untreated. The good news is that with treatment and a program of recovery, people can and DO live healthy, happy and productive lives. That has been our focus for the last 29 years as we provide solutions which support people moving forward in long-term recovery. With our treatment locations in both Calgary (men only) and Lethbridge (men and women) we are seen as a treatment leader not only in Calgary and area, but are recognized across Canada for the interdisciplinary approach we take to treating addiction. Our entire focus is on a recovery solution that is real, attainable and sustainable. Along with the two treatment centers, we currently have 46 post-treatment housing beds in two apartments in Calgary. Post-treatment housing clients are provided weekly check-ins with an outreach counsellor, peer support and are part of a strong alumni network. In all of our work, we remain constant to our core values: equality, empathy, trust, accountability, support, change, respect and individuality.

Recovery is sustained in small moments, most of which are never seen or shared.

It looks like a staff member taking the time to listen. An alumni member checking in on someone new. A friend of Fresh Start showing up again because they believe this community is worth contributing to. It is consistent care, steady connection, and a place where people are treated with dignity.

If this work matters to you and you’re able, we invite you to support it. Your gift helps sustain the people and programs that make recovery possible in our community.

Thank you for helping ensure this care continues, often quietly, every day.

Addiction is a family disease. Recovery is a community solution.

Addiction doesn’t affect one person alone. It touches families, friends, and whole communities. Recovery does too.

Family and friends are part of the recovery journey. They show up, learn together, and stay connected as a loved one finds their footing. Over time, this shared presence helps create stability, understanding, and a sense of hope for individuals and for the families who walk alongside them.

This is what it looks like when people choose to stay engaged. Choosing compassion over distance. Choosing to stand beside others who understand what it means to care for someone affected by addiction. This is how community becomes part of the solution.

If this work resonates with you and you’re able, we invite you to support it. Your gift helps sustain the people, programs, and spaces that support families and keep recovery support available in our community.

Thank you for being part of this shared care and for helping carry this work forward.

Trust is built slowly, and it is protected through consistency. In recovery, trust often takes shape in small, repeated choices. Showing up again. Speaking honestly. Accepting help. Staying connected when life feels heavy.

Recovery is supported through steady relationships that develop over time. People across our community help ensure that no one has to navigate recovery alone. This shared presence is what allows recovery to keep moving forward, together.

If this work matters to you and you’re able, we invite you to support it. Every donation helps sustain the people and programs that make recovery possible in our community.

Thank you for being part of this shared effort and for helping carry this work forward.

Recovery is built through relationships, and it is strengthened by the people who keep showing up.

Community is not a slogan. It is staff, alumni, families, and friends who remain connected over time. It shows up in listening, in checking in, in sitting together, and in the simple willingness to stay present when life feels heavy.

This is how long-term recovery takes root, not through a single person or moment, but through many small, steady expressions of care, repeated day after day.

If this work matters to you and you’re able, we invite you to support it. Your gift helps ensure that when someone reaches out, support is there to meet them.

Thank you for being part of this community and for helping carry this work forward.

Happy New Year, everyone 💛

As we step into 2026, we just want to say thank you to our community.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to ring in the New Year in Calgary and Lethbridge. Whether you came with family, friends, your homegroup, or you walked in on your own, you helped create the kind of night we all need sometimes: safe, welcoming, and full of connection.

In Calgary, we’re grateful to our partners at Aventa for helping create a space where people could celebrate with joy and dignity.

In Lethbridge, a big thank you to Sam’s and Sober Cartel for showing up in a big way and helping make the night what it was.

We’re wishing you a joyous and prosperous 2026. More health. More laughter. More people finding their way back to themselves. Let’s keep building this together.

This is what we value deeply at Fresh Start.

People from different walks of life choosing the same thing: to stay connected, to come back, and to be part of a community that supports recovery in a real, practical way.

You’ll see alumni and family. You’ll see community members and organizations who stay close to this work through real relationships. Time is shared. Presence is offered. Support is given because recovery matters and because it’s something we carry together.

That shared care allows recovery to extend beyond our walls. Through outreach and continued support, people remain connected to help when they need it most, often in moments that matter deeply.

If this work resonates with you, we invite you to support it in whatever way you’re able. Your gift helps ensure that connection, care, and follow-through are there when someone reaches out. Every donation supports the people and programs that make recovery possible, together, now and into the future.

Thank you for being part of this community and for helping carry this work forward.

This is what Fresh Start looks like after treatment.

Alumni staying connected, standing together, and making room for the next person.

Our alumni come back. For meetings. For milestones. For Gratitude celebrations.
They volunteer. They plan connection points. They mentor. They sponsor. They show up when life gets heavy and remind those in early recovery that they are not alone.

This isn’t something we can manufacture. It isn’t a program add-on.
It exists because people choose it, again and again. That choice is what makes this community real and what helps recovery last.

If this work matters to you, we ask that you support it. Your gift strengthens long-term recovery in our community and ensures support is there when someone reaches out.

Standing together. This is how the work continues.

Recovery doesn’t always start with a breakthrough.

Most times, it starts with someone picking up the phone in desperation.

A moment where things have narrowed.

Where options feel gone.

Where being met with a calm voice and a real person can change what happens next.

Our front desk teams across all locations, along with our outreach team, are available 24/7. When someone reaches out, they are not met with a recording or a closed door. People on our waitlist, individuals in our care, alumni who need to reconnect, and families looking for answers all reach a real person.

This is what it means to stand together.
Not in words, but in presence.
Not in promises, but in showing up when it matters most.

If you believe people should not face these moments alone, we are asking you to stand with us. Your donation helps keep the phones answered, the doors open, and support available when desperation turns into a call for help.

Stand together. Support this work. That moment of connection can change everything.

Gratitude in a New Season

Today in Lethbridge, we celebrated our final group of 2025 completing the first phase of their recovery at Fresh Start, with December snow settling in around us.
This isn’t an ending. It’s a turning point. A new season built on hard choices, honest work, and the kind of courage that shows up even when life feels heavy. Every step they took reflected strength, accountability, and a real willingness to change.

Gratitude isn’t just something we say. It’s something we practice. It looks like supporting one another, staying present, doing the next right thing, and choosing connection over isolation. Recovery grows when peers walk side by side, alumni reach back, staff stand steady, and a community keeps making space for people to rebuild.

To our newest alumni: your next steps begin now. Let what you’ve learned guide you. Let the connections you’ve built carry you. Keep moving forward in connection, reflection, and growth. You’re not doing this alone.
