Jennifer Hayes Starratt - ABM NeuroMovement Practitioner

Jennifer Hayes Starratt - ABM NeuroMovement Practitioner Jennifer is an Anat Baniel certified NeuroMovement® practitioner working with people of all abilities

My family’s journey to finding ABM® NeuroMovement® started with the diagnosis of our son, Alex, with Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 2, a devastating diagnosis that rocked our family. Through our journey of pain and discovery, and our commitment to providing Alex with the most proactive care we could, we found the Anat Baniel Method®. Through the first series of intensives (10 lessons over 5 days) Alex had better head control, could sit unassisted and had more movement and control over his feet. He slowly learned to control his falls and to get down to the floor from a tall kneeling position without crashing. ABM NeuroMovement has helped to maintain flexibility in the inevitable scoliosis of his spine and continues to provide quality of life through quality of movement. I decided to take the training and become a NeuroMovement practitioner because of my son. I continued with the training because I could see how it was helping me with my own movements, thoughts and emotions. I continue to provide the work to my community because I see how life changing these small, gentle movements can be.

An opportunity for May 12, 2024 at Spray Lakes Sawmills family sports center. Please contact Izzy (details below).

Cochrane’s SLS centre is doing a Swim Abilities Training on Saturday May 11th and Sunday May 12, 2024 and they have reached out to me to ask if there are any families that are interested in coming to the facility on the morning of May 12, 2024 between 9am -12pm for the practical component of their training. You would not have to come for the whole 9am-12pm timeframe but you could let Izzy Jones (Ijones@slscentre.com) know what time within that time frame would work for you. They are hoping that a few families may be interested in coming to allow their instructors to get some hands on training!

SwimAbilities® is a learn to swim program geared for children and young adults with special needs, who need additional support to develop fundamental physical literacy skills and safety routines for aquatic activities. SwimAbilities® assists children and their parents in increasing safety, independence, and enjoyment in and around the water. There is no cost to you and you would have free entry into the facility. This would take place in their Therapy pool.

Please reach out to Izzy at the SLS centre (she has been cc’d on this email and her email is also provided above) to book a spot if you are interested! Alternatively if you feel more comfortable to reach out to me please do so and I will help however I can.

Please feel free to forward this email to anyone in your community that might be interested this opportunity.
