Ohana Health & Wellness Centre Ohana is a CYA Yoga Teacher Training School. We offer Yoga, Thai Massage, Holistic Practices and more Welcome to the Ohana Yoga & Wellness Centre.

Our goal is to educate and empower individuals, families and communities so that they may experience improved health, awareness and life fulfillment. EveryBODY counts, there is something for everyone and no will be left behind. We are all in-charge of our own health and well-being, at Ohana we offer a variety of classes and services to assist you in becoming a healthier more balanced you!

“Yoga Flow with Nicky”Neuro-Informed Movement, Breath & Awareness

This class is about moving with purpose. We flow — but not to rush or perform. We move to connect. Each sequence is thoughtfully designed to help your brain and body communicate more clearly through cross-body patterns, balance work, breath rhythm, and steady transitions. We build strength and stability, challenge coordination, and then soften into breath and meditation so your nervous system can truly integrate the work.

You’ll be guided to notice what’s happening inside — how you’re breathing, where you’re holding tension, when you need to push, and when you need to pause. Breath isn’t an afterthought here — it leads the movement. Meditation isn’t separate — it’s woven throughout.

Over time, this practice supports:

• Stronger brain-body connection
• Better balance, coordination & joint stability
• Improved posture and movement efficiency
• Increased strength with less strain
• Greater stress regulation & nervous system resilience
• Clearer focus and emotional steadiness

Here's a quick look at the classes I offer today, all levels welcome, each class is customized to meet the individuals needs of the client base, not customized into a one size fits all, although EVERYbody is welcome! Have an incredible day, see you on the mat!

10:00–11:00 AM - Chair Yoga & Somatic Vitality — “Stay Mobile, Have Fun”

Gentle, effective movement for all ages and abilities. Using chairs, wall-supported poses, and optional light weights, Nicky blends functional strength, cardio-somatic flow, and somatic awareness to reduce pain, improve balance, and boost mood. Perfect for beginners or anyone with limited mobility or chronic conditions.

6:00pm - 7:30 pm Hatha & Yin with Nicky — 90 minutes (In Studio)

Strength + stillness. Precision + surrender.
A yoga-therapy informed class combining slow Hatha flow (alignment, strength, hands-on support) with deep Yin holds to release fascia and calm the nervous system.

Why come: Improve posture, joint health, and mobility. Release chronic tension and reduce pain. Build sustainable strength and emotional resilience. Better sleep and stress tolerance

Move the body, it helps settle the mind.

Hatha & Yin Yoga with Nicky (Alignments/Adjustments & Stress Release) blends steady, intentional movement with longer, restorative holds to create both strength and deep release. The Hatha portion builds alignment, balance, and functional stability, while Yin gently targets the fascia and connective tissue, inviting the nervous system to downshift. With thoughtful hands-on adjustments and personalized guidance, you’ll learn how to move safely, breathe more efficiently, and release stored tension. This practice supports joint health, improves mobility, reduces stress, and helps you leave feeling grounded, regulated, and deeply restored — not just stretched, but reset.

Vipassana is the practice of seeing clearly. It’s a form of meditation that develops deep awareness of bodily sensations, thoughts, and emotions without reacting to them. Instead of trying to control the mind, we learn to observe it. Over time, this builds equanimity — the ability to stay steady in the midst of discomfort, uncertainty, or intensity.

To be honest at one point the act of beating a drum or using my voice scared me.

When the sound or vibration got louder than how I felt, it felt too powerful and brought me out of my comfort zone... now I beat a drum... not well but I beat. I sing out loud, sometimes in class, sometimes walking... when we learn to move safely with awareness into our fears the fears and feeling "small" stops... here's an opportunity to "Beat your own drum", don't have one... we have some to share!

Shared Rhythmic Experiences

Here is my take....

There’s something ancient about rhythm.

Before language, before explanation, we had the heartbeat. The drum mirrors that. When we sit in circle and begin to play, we’re not just making noise — we’re regulating together.

Shared rhythm settles the nervous system.
It organizes scattered energy.
It gives the body something steady to entrain to.

You don’t need skill. You don’t need experience. You just need a pulse.

The vibration of the drum moves through the body — not just heard, but felt. That vibration can loosen what’s been held, shift what’s been stuck, and remind us we’re not alone in what we carry.

In a world where many people feel isolated or overstimulated, a drumming circle brings us back into collective coherence. We listen. We respond. We create something bigger than ourselves.

It’s not about performance.
It’s about participation.

It’s about remembering that healing doesn’t always happen quietly on a mat.

Sometimes healing happens in rhythm — shoulder to shoulder, heartbeat to heartbeat.

And that kind of community medicine is powerful.

Our Story

Welcome to the Ohana Yoga & Wellness Centre / Training Academy. Movement is Medicine!

We have been a yoga & wellness studio for over 19 years as well as a (Canadian Yoga Alliance) CYA-RYS GOLD teacher training school. For 200 RYT CYA teaching certifications as well as continued education in yoga & wellness modalities.

Our primary instructor/owner/founder is Nicky Poulin, CYA-E-RYT GOLD instructor, CCF Life Coach, with over 30,000 hours of teaching and over 20 years of dedication to her mat and to her students/clients. Nicky holds yoga & wellness based certifications from all over the world, including India, United States, & Canada. Nicky’s yoga journey started over 21 yrs ago when diagnosed with chronic pain, fybromyalgia, IBS, schleroderma, just to name a few of her diagnosis's. Basically her body,spirit and mind had begun to shut down, and for her - yoga & other wellness modalities became the biggest attribute towards becoming well again.

During her journey of recovery from illnesses, her love for yoga and the benefits it brought to her grew. Nicky felt the need to share these tools that she has learned. The journey was not easy, but through determination and a drive to help others the idea of having a yoga & wellness studio was born. 17 years later and with over 30,000 teaching hours as an instructor it is now time for Nicky to teach/train teachers.
