Watermain flushing in Waterloo for the next month. Run your water if it looks dirty until it looks clean :)

We're flushing watermains across the city to keep your tap water fresh and clear. Over time, iron and other minerals can settle in the pipes, sometimes causing discoloured water. Flushing helps remove that buildup and maintain high-quality water in your home.

Here's what you need to know:
The flushing will happen between April 14 to May 20, 2025 🗓️
No chemical agents are being used 🚫
Your water will stay on ✅
If you notice discoloured water, run a cold water tap for a few minutes, until it runs clear 💧

Call display can easily be changed to anything by criminals. Always hang up and find the number yourself if you plan to call back and verify anything. Never give bank info over the phone unless you are certain of who you are talking too.

We are issuing a warning to the public after receiving reports of a caller ID spoofing scam.

On March 3, 2025, a Wilmot Township man received a phone call from an unknown male who identified himself as a police officer and provided the name of an existing WRPS Fraud Unit investigator. The fraudster also used a spoofing tool to hide the number he was calling from and to display WRPS’ non-emergency number (519-570-9777) on the victim’s caller ID.

The fraudster told the victim that his bank accounts were linked to criminal activity and would be frozen if he hung up.

No financial losses were sustained, and the investigation is ongoing.

To help prevent being a victim of a spoofing scam, consider the following tips:

❗ Do not trust what appears on your caller ID display. When in doubt, hang up the phone, find the phone number of the legitimate agency and call them to verify the information provided.
❗ Never provide personal identity information, such as your address, banking information, Social Insurance Number (SIN) or passwords, over the phone.
❗ Use a caller ID spoofing app which can help you identify and block spoofed calls.
