This week, Manulife and Loblaws agreed to a highly profitable deal that would prevent you from getting certain prescription drugs, particularly the expensive life-saving drugs, from your local pharmacist.

Most of the drugs that fall under this new deal treat chronic or life-threatening conditions like cancer, multiple sclerosis, and hepatitis C. For people with severe conditions being treated by multiple specialists, their local pharmacist is a key member of their healthcare team. Your chosen local pharmacist ensures that all of the drugs prescribed are carefully monitored, administered, and cause no damaging, or even lethal interactions. Removing your choice of pharmacist means removing coordinated medical care. It makes Manulife and Loblaws a lot of money, and compromises your healthcare.

These exclusivity deals are known as preferred pharmacy network arrangements, and are common in the United States.

If this is something that concerns you, as it does our team, please take a moment to fill out this petition, or talk to your MP.
