🦶 Reflexology vs Foot Massage, What’s the Difference?

Both feel good. Both involve the feet, but they are not the same.

A foot massage is a nice way to relax, using slow, flowing strokes and oils to soothe tired feet. It is comforting and pampering, great to feel calm.

Reflexology, on the other hand, is a therapeutic treatment. It is grounded in knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and the body's reflex zones.

As professionally trained reflexologists, we ask about your health issues so we can work with precision, stimulating specific points on the feet and/or hands, ears and face that correspond to organs, glands, and systems in the body to help improve what is happening with your health issues.

The goal is to support your health, restore balance, and activate your body’s natural healing processes.

So while foot massage nurtures the feet, reflexology supports the whole person: body, mind, and nervous system.

“detox is a scam”
“that’s what your liver is for”
“bodies detox themselves”

Some of us in the office started as skeptics; we get it.

But statements like this are misleading. Does everybody need detox? We are under the opinion that, in this day and age, yes. Everyone needs to implement detox. But more people are more in need of it than others, such as those with compromised detox pathways.

Yes, the body detoxes itself. But we have introduced a LOT of new chemicals into our everyday environment. The IonCleanse by AMD works with your body’s natural detox pathways, helping your body detox more than it would have without the session.

How do we know? 3rd party researchers found and increase of toxicant release in urine for up to 5 days after the cleanse. This was repeatable with several different toxicants, like heavy metals and glyphosate.

Glyphosate—a probable carcinogen found in our food supply— is typically very difficult for the body to detox, and IonCleanse by AMD users saw an average increase glyphosate release of 35% post-cleanse.

Karie is now officially a Registered Massage Therapist!
Karie attended Anderson College for Massage Therapy and graduated with honours this past August. In September, she completed all the board exams and the registration process with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO). Karie is excited to be able to share her new skills with you and also to be able to write official receipts for those of you with extended health benefits!
Karie has always been passionate about holistic health and alternative therapies from a young age. Over the years she studied nutrition, reiki, reflexology, aromatherapy and more, she uses her knowledge in her personal and family life as well as incorporating that knowledge into her treatments. Her style of massage is focussed on relaxation and treating the body as a whole. She does not offer deep tissue massage. Karie is currently certified in cupping therapy, hot stone therapy and aromatherapy massage and she continues to learn and add to her practice. Karie is a member of the Canadian College of Massage Therapist of Ontario (CMTO), the Registered Reflexology Council of Ontario (RRCO) as well as the Canadian Federation of Aromatherapy Health Professionals (CFA).
Karie offers Massage Therapy sessions as well as combination sessions of the different modalities to support you on your journey to health & wellness.
