❤️

To the mum without their village.

The mum who started a family, whilst living away from her own.

I know how entirely alone you feel at times. How you crave an extra pair of hands. A friendly face. A casual cuppa and a chat. A knock on the door that isn't the postman.

There are no date nights. No brief reprieves. Your partner, and your partner alone, is your entire village. Liable at times to bend and break.

As lockdown eased, you wondered what's really changed as you looked on enviously at those distanced doorstep reunions.

But you will find a strength in yourself that you never knew existed. A self-reliance. The ability to strike up conversations with strangers in the hope that they too might be looking for their next best friend.

And one day it will all change, with one genuine connection. The beginnings of something. A telephone number exchanged. An ease of conversation. A common ground. The ability to be yourself. Comfy chats in messy homes. A favour bravely asked. A favour returned. An 'In case of emergency'. A house nearby that your child knows the directions to.

You are not alone in your aloneness.

There are loads of us. That followed the partner. Or followed the job. Whose heart will always partially belong elsewhere.

What a ride it’s been the last few years... Nearly at the end of 2017 my husband and I decided to open and we have not looked back since! We’ve learned an exceptional amount from many small businesses. We’ve expanded our services and collaborated with many to continue to offer services to individuals and families in the area. One of the things I am most proud of is the ability to hold space in a vulnerable way for my clients. We’ve laughed, cried, hugged, and sat with no words... I feel if anything we’ve conquered with our authenticity. We have had many privileges, some of which include speaking and honouring pregnancy and infant loss, writing and contributing to increasing awareness surrounding with the and meeting with incredible and similar business visions to help to support one another grow. In 2019, we supported 147 individuals/partners.. 🤭 As always, to anyone (my clients know the drill) text, call, email anytime.. ♥️ So blessed! Bina xoxo

Today is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day.

This evening there will be a Global Wave of Light to honour collective loss. Join me in lighting a candle at 7pm to remember all parents impacted by these significant losses ♥️

A few weeks ago I opened my email to find an email from informing me that had been nominated for a under the category ‘Best Marriage & Family & Individual Counselling’.

My first instinct was to call my husband who at the time was bathing our two kiddies and could hardly hear what I was saying 😂

This nomination means sooo much... in 2017 after my husband and I encountered our second miscarriage we struggled to find resources within the community to help to support us process our experience. It was a few weeks later that I turned to my husband and said... “I’m going to create a business for and partners undergoing losses, , sub-fertility, and ...” My husband turned to me wholeheartedly and replied, “Can you imagine how many families you will be able to help?”...♥️

I like to call it the small engine that could.. operating out of a cozy little house in Galt...

My clients show up despite their hardships.. giving me everything they have and showing me their vulnerability in the most authentic way.

This post completely resonates.. this year I have encountered so many birth persons that have struggled with feeling they have failed due to having a cesarean section. Check out The Holistic Parent Fall Issue article “C is for Caring”... every birth story deserves a space ♥️

We love this message from Meg Boggs Blog so much.
Women deserve choice, whatever that choice looks like be it a drug free water birth, an elective cesarean and everything else in between.
What women want is more knowledge to make informed decisions.
We had over 400 people respond to our improving antenatal education survey. I’ll be sharing the results soon 💙

Dear mamas,
Your birth story is special, unique and beautiful because no two bodies are the same. This means there’s no right or perfect way to give birth, so let’s celebrate the fact that we created life and brought them into this world however that may have been.

Uncertainty...
brings about these obstacles that feels at times so uncomfortable..
Our typical day-to-day function entails to some degree a routine or contains a structure which helps us to function better especially when we are prepared or know what to expect..
our children at whatever stage whether it be infants or upwards challenges us to tolerate uncertainty and accept the unpredictability...
Being able to practice tolerance helps to maintain a sense of control...
So, this week I challenge you to step outside of your window of tolerance even for a little bit, two minutes at a time..
Channel your inner
Start with a walk to mailbox
Order your coffee inside vs the drive through
Smile at a fellow in passing

Take that leap with me ♥️

The Role of the Amygdala...
Over the last few weeks I have engaged with many clients around how the brain processes and how we perceive .
Our Amygdala packs a lot of power to influence and emotional behaviour. The Amygdala is responsible for perceptions of threat, control of aggression, and control of responses that help you deal with threat.
Lack of sleep is common in persons who experience anxiety, worry, and rumination. Lack of sleep ramps the up the Amygdala 😩
How do we foster resilience?
1) We must change our perceptions about stress being good or bad
2) Know that even if we have no control over a situation, we do have control over our emotional reactions and perceptions.

Client- Can I take my shoes off?
Me- You most certainly can!
I take for granted sometimes this space is where my clients feel the most comfort, even for a short duration. A therapy room means so much more to a client than we can imagine. For some it is the only place they feel fully accepted, for others it’s the place they weep the hardest.
I am honoured to sit alongside you in this space.
