What is it?!

is a national campaign focused on one specific outcome: supporting access to the Medical Expense Tax Credit for clients who receive music therapy.

We are calling on provinces to Acknowledge Certified Music Therapists (MTAs) as eligible health professionals for the purpose of CRA tax credit inclusion, and Request that the Canada Revenue Agency add MTAs to the Authorized Medical Practitioners (AMP) list.

Everything I used in a session today 😊🐟

Music Therapists use a variety of different instruments as tools in sessions to support clients in reaching their goals

🪘 Sometimes it’s a piano, guitar, recorder, or xylophone. Other times it’s tambourines and shakers, drums and woodblocks. Other sessions may not use instruments much at all!

🪇 But whatever it is, in the instrument choice is always related to the clients GOAL

🪈 Clients do NOT need any musical experience to benefit from or participate in music therapy

🎺 We’re looking at what they are getting out of the experience of playing (e.g. emotional regulation or self-expression) and/or how it’s supporting their goals (e.g. hand eye coordination or grip strength)
