In Canada, Accredited Music Therapists hold the credential “MTA”

Recently I’ve been fortunate enough to connect with many parents through Extend-A-Family Waterloo Region
In my presentations and I always say that ANY music holds value and can be “therapeutic” 💜🎶

But to be “MUSIC THERAPY” it needs to be facilitated by an MTA (or training/qualifying MTA)

This summer our team has been soaking it all in! Some of our fav summer activities are going to markets, hiking, beach trips, outdoor concerts and camping!

According to a study by the University of California, Irvine, singing in a choir just might make you healthier. This study, authored by Robert Beck and Thomas Cesario and published in Music Perception, found that Immunoglobulin A, a protein used by the immune system to fight disease, increased 150 percent during rehearsals and 240 percent during performance.
