About Me :)
Natalie is a FNHA and CVAP Approved Registered Social Worker.
She has been working in the therapy field for 21 years.
Natalie graduated with a Bachelor of Social Work degree in 2004 from Thompson Rivers University, she has experience working in the anti violence field with women and children. She has experience with youth and families misusing substances and spent 10 years specializing in Substance Use and Mental Health. She eventually moved towards a focus on providing culturally safe mental health counselling in Indigenous communities; expanding her scope of practice to compound grief and complex historical trauma. She graduated in 2021 with a Master's in Social Work from UVIC with a specialization in Indigenous Social Work. She has been in private practice since 2022, working with a broad spectrum of youth and adults. She now offers therapy to couples and people seeking to increase capacity interpersonally and in their relationships.
At the core of Natalie's practice is the belief that clients are experts of their lives and drive the therapy process. Empowerment and self-determination are the foundations of her work.
Natalie utilizes several modalities in therapy, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectal Behaviour Therapy, Hakomi (body centred approach), and Emotionally Focused therapy for Couples and Individuals.
Her belief is that laughter is as therapeutic as crying and change can be made through a variety of portals.
Natalie is an avid cyclist and runner; spending countless hours in the trails around Campbell River with her Belgian shepherd, and fox terrier. She is also a proud mother and grandmother.
