I know this to my very core.
And I know there are so many parents not just mothers who raised their children through immense trauma, heartbreak, and pure survival mode.
I also know that regret is a tragic waste of your precious energy.
So please hear this.
While you were surviving your darkest seasons,
you loved them the only way you knew how.
You showed up when you could, how you could, and as much as you could.
We always do the best we can with the awareness we have at the time.
Hindsight is always crystal clear.
“I could have done this.”
“I should have done that.”
But here’s the invitation.
Make a promise to yourself — starting today — to forgive yourself for all the ways you feel you fell short as a parent.
It can be deeply healing to tell your children, at any age, even as adults, that you acknowledge you weren’t always able to be there in the ways they needed — and that you truly did your best.
That honesty matters.
Because now, you get to move forward carrying the wisdom those years gave you.
You get to heal.
You get to show them the healed version of you.
And in that space, healing ripples outward.
But only if you stop living in the past.
Only if you keep choosing growth, self-compassion, and love — for yourself.
And I want you to know I’m proud of you.
For surviving what felt unthinkable.
For teaching your children resilience simply by continuing on.
I see you.
I love you.
Keep going.
