Campbellford Memorial Hospital is proud to highlight the outstanding work of our Laboratory Services team following the release of their 2025 year-end results. Last year, the CMH Lab collected more than 66,000 samples, performed nearly 149,000 tests, and delivered nearly half a million individual component results. All while consistently meeting urgent turnaround-time targets and making over 3,300 critical result calls to support timely, life-saving care. January is the time of year when hospitals love to celebrate the first baby born of the New Year, and while CMH no longer has a maternity ward, our Emergency Department team is absolutely ready if a baby decides they cannot wait to arrive at a neighbouring hospital.

That said, we thought it would be fun to take a little trip back in time and share a flashback to something truly special: the very first baby ever born at CMH 💙

While we don't have a photo from that moment, we’re lucky to have this snippet from "Campbellford Memorial Hospital: 50 Years of Care Beyond Compare," reminding us of this special milestone.

"Karen Walmsley, daughter of Millard and June, was the first baby delivered in the new hospital on September 2, 1953. The Board approved the waiving of all maternity fees for this new arrival to celebrate the event. In 1972, Karen became an employee in the Admitting Office of the facility and later worked in the Business Department as Payroll Clerk."

72 years later, while our services may have evolved, one thing remains the same, caring for our community at life’s most important moments.

As a precaution due to increased respiratory illness activity in our hospital and across the community, temporary visitor restrictions are being put in place on our Inpatient Unit.

➡️ Patients are permitted one visitor at a time
➡️ Masking is required while visiting the Inpatient Unit (masks available upon entry)
➡️ Visitors who are feeling unwell or have respiratory symptoms are asked to postpone visiting
➡️ Virtual visiting remains available, with staff support as needed

These measures are intended to help protect patients, visitors, and staff. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we continue to monitor the situation and work closely with public health.

Our Emergency Department (ED) is currently experiencing extremely high patient volumes.

Patients are seen based on medical urgency. As a result, individuals with less urgent conditions will experience significantly longer wait times.

If you find yourself waiting longer than expected, we kindly ask for your patience and understanding. Our teams are working as quickly and safely as possible to care for everyone who needs us. Kindness and respect toward our staff are greatly appreciated during these busy periods.

For non-emergency health concerns, please consider alternative care options when appropriate: https://cmh.ca/emergency-department/know-where-to-go

Extended Wait Times in the ED:

Our Emergency Department is currently experiencing significantly elevated patient volumes.

If you're attending the ED for non or less urgent conditions, you will experience significant wait times as we work to prioritize more urgent cases.

Year in Review: 2025 — A Refreshed Look for CMH

Continuing our Year in Review: 2025, today we’re looking at an important evolution in how we present ourselves to our community.

In 2025, CMH introduced a refreshed brand, including updated colours, logo, and corporate values all designed to better reflect who we are today and where we’re headed in the future.
