Get to know Ahimsa Yoga with Deanna

Ahimsa Yoga with Deanna is owned by Deanna Mason, PhD, RYT 200. Deanna has been practicing yoga for 19 years and, after completing her Yoga Teacher Training at Himalaya Yoga Valley Centre in Cork, Ireland, has taught yoga in Camrose, Alberta, for 3-and-a-half years. Certified by the Yoga Alliance, Deanna founded Ahimsa Yoga in July 2019.

Ahimsa Yoga with Deanna offers a range of yoga classes suitable for all levels, whether you’re a new or experienced practitioner. Check out class descriptions, as well as details of workshops and special events, at ahimsa-yoga.ca.

Curious what Ahimsa means? The Yoga Sutras, a centuries-old yogic text, define ahimsa as non-harming or compassion and describe it as a key trait for practitioners of yoga to cultivate. Ahimsa Yoga with Deanna was born out of this idea that compassion—towards ourselves, others, and the Earth—is central to the practice and teaching of yoga. Ahimsa allows us to go beyond seeing our yoga mat as a destination and to view it instead as a path leading to deeper awareness of our own body, heart, and mind and our relationship with the world around us.
